I am commencing a self build in the near future and am wondering if there are any good (preferably Irish) self build books out there that would be worth purchasing that will give me a better idea of that is involved in each stage.

In addition are there any sites that give detailed sample budgets?

The Homebond House Building Manual is invaluable IMO, costs about €40-€50

As jimbo78 said, get the Homebond manual.

    Worth its weight in gold.

In fact the government should make it compulsory for every builder to read it and then be tested much like the driving test set up
