    Hi lads,
Im currently in my final year doing electronic engineering and ive come to the conclusion that i dont want to work in the industry!
However The course allows me to teach maths if i did a hdip. Has anbody else gone down this route to teach maths in second level schools?
Although ive done subjects like physics and computer related subjects,One of my fears is that ive no other subjects that allow me to teach and as far as im aware , schools like that you have 2 subjects that you can teach.
Also in relation to the hdip in education, ive heard that this course is very competitive and in my situation a masters would give me a better chance to get on the hdip.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

With regards teaching maths, a lot of maths teachers have science degrees thathave maths as the extra component and likewise for engineering. After it all, maths is fairly handy at second level. If you want to know what subjects you can teach officially, contact the teaching council with your exact qualification and they should be able to advise you on the query.
Lastly, regarding the HDip, everything helps as lots want to get in to it in this current economic climate. However, apply and see how you get on. Masters helps as does teaching experience.
