that u can get a hard drive that plugs into ur computer, and then u get another one that can play or look at all the files on the one connected to the computer.

Sorta like if ur upstairs u can use the wireless broadband thats based downstairs

i.e a wireless hard drive

i googled it and got nothing but articles

so is there such a thing, and can anyone give me more info (links etc)

Yep. It's called Network Attached Storage ( NAS )

You'll get a lot of examples on eBay just by searching for "NAS".

Yes. but rather slow and insecure.
You can do it rather better with an old PC and Linux.
(Actually these gadgets usually run Linux too)

    See Linksys NSLU (nicknamed Slug)

As has been said, the closest implementation is NAS. I have the device Watty mentioned -- the Linksys Slug. Handy when you want a file on the network and can access the device regardless of whether you're connected to the router wirelessly or using a cable.

Wireless transfer speeds will be pretty crappy though in comparison to a wired connection. This probably won't bother you unless you're working with video.
