Irish Sun TV advert

Just watched an ad on RTE for the Sun where it states that it's the best selling tabloid in Ireland. I know it's only tabloids, but still... that's a depressing stat if true.

I wonder how many Sun readers know or remember that the Sun in the 80s in the UK had a boycott Irish goods campaign? Each week he paper would pick an Irish product for it's readers to avoid ala "This week it's Kerrygold Butter".

Hey the peace process is amazing, Paisley launches Dana's book - cool. But the Sun being top selling tabloid? That smarts.

They also deliberately went out of their way to try and set up Roy Keane for a story. The Sun is a rag but there's no accounting for taste. Look how many copies the Sunday Indo sells.

And now they, or at least their Sunday incarnation, deliberately go out of their way to find a Roy Keane story for the back pages of their Irish edition.

"Roy Keane says he thinks soccer is a good sport"

"Roy Keane makes some banal comment on Steve Staunton"

"Roy Keane says he thinks he can do a good job as a manager"

    etc. etc.
