    Hi there guys,
Has anyone used these guys (http://www.thetrainline.com) to get from Gatwick to London city? From Gatwick to Victoria it works out at £17.80 return, that is almost £10 less than the Gatwick express and it takes the same time!!

    Cheers,
    M

I've bought tickets from them before, but to be honest you'd just be better off buying at the station.

Just purchase at the station - you have a choice of Southern (to London Victoria) or First Capital Connect trains (via London Bridge), both of which are cheaper than the Gatwick Express.

Thames link will bring you right into the City from Gatwick (via Blackfriars, Farringdon, Kings X) - cheaper than the Gatwick express but slower! check out all the options on www.nationalrail.co.uk

Don't use that website, they charge a credit card fee besides they do not allow people to sign up from outside the UK.

For that trip it is unnecessary anyway as all the fares are available at the ticket office.

£17.80 is the standard monthly return fare from Gatwick to Victoria on Southern railway trains only, it is available from the ticket office or ticket machines at Gatwick.

It is NOT valid on Gatwick Express services but the Southern service is also quite frequent and only takes 5 minutes more.

There are also frequent trains from Gatwick to London Bridge, Blackfriars, Farringdon and Kings Cross for £17 return. It is about 45mns to Kings Cross.

Check on a map to see which is closest to your destination.

Thanx a million guys! We are staying in Coven Garden so which train statioon would be the best one to go to do you reckon? Is it much of a muchness as when you get to Victoria you can get on the tube system then to the covent garden stop?

    Thanx,

    Hi guys,
Was in London last weekend and took the Gatwick express into Victoria. I went to the booth to pay £26 each for a return for 3 of us and the fella there asked if we were all going and coming back the same time. I replied yes and we got three for the price of two! So it worked out at £17.00 each instead of £26.00 each.

Have no idea how long this offer is on but worth asking if there is a few of ye travelling together.

    Cheers,
    Mark
