Can anyone recommend any hotels in Edinburgh? Just booked flights for 1 night in January for girlfriends birthday.

Also if you have any recommendations for fun things to do , ghost tour etc...

    Thanks

    Edinburgh seems dearer than London
We stayed in apartments - 162 euro for 2 nights

they were fine, clean etc but in former tenement houses , not every ones taste

    things to do

we did auld reekies tour - it was fairly harmless except for the vaults bit which was cool , and creepy . there are about 5 different operators

I'd recommend camera obsura at entrance to edinburgh castle - if only just for the views from the roof top / telescopes, though the camera obscura itself was great to see (try go when its brightest outside ) and the other optical tricks etc

we spent 4 hrs in Edinburgh castle !

also depending on your tastes - we did breakfast in a wee cafe - the greasy spoon type, with haggis and tattie scones - was excellent . right now can't think of the name of the cafe, was near the bridge/train station

I just booked a deluxe room in the Kildolan lodge with 4 poster beds. It scored very high on trip advisor and is reasonable enough for Edinburgh so might be worth a go.

You can't go wrong with Apex International as others have said, stayed there last Feb with some mates, top class. Great location too.
