Polar (rs800) HRM : Misreading?

    Hi,

I have an RS800 with W.I.N.D. sensor and was using it in training for the Dublin marathon.

In the last 2/3 weeks I've started getting spikes in readings and erratic jumping to v high heart rates. I've tried all the standard fixes suggested by Polar with no success.

Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with the unit and dound any resolution?

    Thanks,

    C.

    Here are 3 possibilities:

    1. Shave your chest hair.
    2. Wear the strap tighter.
    3. The readings are actually legit!

    Hi colinryan

I had similar issues with my Wearlink on the RS200. Have it since Nov 2006

First time round I seen the issue it was at the start of a training run. My HR would indicate 95% or more for the first 3-4mins. This occurred a few times and then would not operate on the morning of the Longford half marathon - annoying. Replaced the battery the following day and this seems to work ok again.
... untill for a period of 27hrs of training work outs. On two occasions in the week before the Dublin M it would read a very low HR and then 00. Replaced battery again but seemed to be completedly dead. Had to replace the Wearlink. Must try and send it back for repair if that is possible.
