Ipoker Problems

For some reason, whenever I'm logged onto Ipoker these days, my internet connection completely drops and then comes back about 3 minutes later. Is there any technical reason why this would happen? I can browse for horus without difficulty, but the minute I start playing, my connection intermittently drops.

    Thanks!

Are you using WIFI to connect? I'd almost bet you are. Its quite possible you are flooding your router and causing it to reset. I cant say without looking at the setup but I would suggest thats it. You should really use a cat5 cable as WIFI and poker arent the best of mates...

    Aside:
Browsing is whats called a "stateless" connection. It makes-and-breaks every time is requests information and its quite tolerant of delays and retries. Poker clients are (as I understand it) stateful connections where by they are permanently in communication with the server. Hence they are far more sensitive to breaks in comms and delays etc. Plus all the clients seem to whinge like little gurlies when the connection is flakey. Hence you can have a crappy connection and a web browser will make it seem ok because its tolerant and patient where as poker clients whinge at any flakeyness.

Had the same trouble all week as well, time outs to a complete drop which came back again after a few min.
upgraded my my dsl connection to 3meg ( not because of this) and the problem seems to have gone.
I have a wireless router connected to the phoneline and sometimes when the connection dropped the only way to get it back was to reset the router.
On a side note while i was playing on carlos 1day the connection was very slow and i fired up GJP on a second computer and opened the same table i was playing on. the action ran fine on GJP but very laggy / timing out on carlos. No idea why this was or can happen as its the same server ????

Thanks Dev! Yeah i am using Wifi. There's no ethernet connection in my apartment, so it's the only option available. The strange thing is that I had only experienced a few problems prior to the past week/ten days. Now the problem is arising pretty much all day everyday when i try to play. The tech company who look after the networks here are calling over this morning so hopefully they'll find a way to resolve it.

I'm getting this issue on iPoker too - a reboot of the router fixes it but usually ends up with me missing a good few hands, largely because i'm sitting there cursing iPoker for freezing again - then I realise it is me droping the connection.

With my usual good luck it happens most often when I've flopped the nuts and have just checked, looking to cr.

That said my connection sucks with Smart - but one of those Smart or nothing poxy management contracts in the apartment complex.

    Wired coonection btw...

I am getting disconnected for the last month constantly on poxy ntl.
Its ridiculous that to play on ipoker people might need anew internet provider.
NO other site gives peopleas much problems even when at tables others are constantly getting disconnected ipoker u can kisssme hole.

I was on a connection with Irish Broadband and Ipoker was impossible to play on. I just got a new broadband line with Eircom and its much better, although not perfect. Other sites, like stars, party and Everest worked perfect with both.

i tried playing party and everest today and both worked without any problems at all. it must be an ipoker issue as i tried again on gjp and it crashed within minutes

Yesterday i had the exact same problems. It generally happened when i loaded a fourth table. All tables would freeze and then come back about 2 minutes later. The strangest thing happened when i had 2 stts and 2 mtts running. When i logged out and back into the software the 2 stts re-opened and no sign of the mtts. I played the stts for a minute with no problems. During this time I checked the tournanment lobby and it wasent refreshed. I taught this may have been the reason which shouldnt happen surely. I decided to log out and log back in again and they came back the second time promptly freezing up again after another 10 minutes. It became very fustrating.i loaded 4 tables on stars and they worked fine. I am on a wireless connection aswell. Could there be a problem with using wireless conections for i poker clients

Summary: If you play on ipoker at all you will grow a deep hatred towards it.
