    Hi there,

I'm totally new to this thing, so please try & be patient with me !!
I recently applied to the PAO in the hope of joining the Gardai !! I did my aptitude test last Thursday November 1st & I think I passed it, but am still waiting for results !! So fingers crossed, I'll get it !! I've also filled out & E-mailed the interview Application form off to the Public Appointments Office, so thats sorted for now anyway !! However, I just checked out www.publicjobs.ie after having a look at this website & saw something about a Form B ?? So I downloaded it & am currently in the process of filling it out !! Man do they ever want your autobilgraphy or what ?? Anyway, I'm 27 & I got arrested about 2 years ago for shoplifting (I was under a serious amount of stress due to relationship problems & did a very stupid thing, totally out of charachter but it was just a once off), got the charges dropped, but still got served with a summons even though the charges got dropped & I was told to ignore any summons that may come to my door !! At the time I got the summons, I was away on holidays in Canada & when the Gardai came to my parents house with the summons, my Mum told them that I was got to Canada to work(not entirely true), so I didn't have to go to court or anything like that !! My question is, will this go against me in terms of my application ?? I currently work with a number of juvenile liaison projects helping you kids etc.. in my free time trying to re-education these kids & keep them away & out of crime !! I'm also an insulin dependent well controlled type 1 diabetic, & even though I've written to the chief medical officer in the Gardai & also phoned them in Garda HQ, where they have told me that each application is taken on a case by case basis; I'm still unsure as to to whether this is a disqualifying medical condition & can't seem to get any real answers from anyone ?? Help please !!
