    Hey,

Anyone ordered anything cds/dvds/games from play lately?

Well I haven't and to my surprise they categorize dvds as "electronics" too and don't ship them to Ireland anymore :/

Wanted to order Call of Duty 4 and it says "This item can only be delivered to a UK address."

    EDIT:

SORRY, never mind, I made a mistake of not selecting EU on the right hand side.

Admins, please delete this thread, sorry!

Did you have the currency set to Sterling or Euro?

I ordered a few dvds last week and got them all this week without any bother.

Only trouble is, as before til loads of people complained, they've reverted to charging way more when you convert from sterling to euro. I wanted to buy a game for someone for Christmas - its £29.99 or €46.49. However the actually conversion should be €41.78, so a hefty €4.71 difference... Basically, it's not actually free shipping, its just hidden!

I hadn't noticed this, but it seems they have started loading the prices again. Just checked Assassin's Creed for PS3, £40 sterling but €62. Checked xe.com for exchange rate and £40 comes to €55.74. Now, given you'd not get that exchange rate on a card or from the bank, I'd say you'd get closer to €57. That's still €5 extra being charged by play.com. A bit much I think.

Sendit.com charge the exact same sterling and euro as play.com, so it's not just them screwing us over. I think you can still pay in Sterling on sendit though, so that would make them better.

Yeah you can still buy in sterling from sendit, dvd.co.uk, blah, cdwow.com etc., so the exchange rate is fine.

As someone in another thread pointed out, blah have now started charging a £1.50 minimum delivery fee on orders, going up depending on how many items you buy, but at least the charges are clearly in their delivery details and you can see the charge before paying. I think the way Play do it is really underhand and would put me off buying from them in the future if I can help it!
