...I think "Jeremy" came on just before or after the 6'o clock Angelus on RTE1 and each episode lasted literally 5 minutes, even back in the day as a kid watching this I knew it was a bit rubbish but I still watched cause that was RTE's way of catering to the young folk...besides Wanderly Wagon on a Friday evening followed by Logan's Run (TV series).

Wow. I wasn't doting after all. I very very vaguely remember this program from when I was knee high to a grasshopper but nobody else does. Did Jeremy the bear have a hanky on a stick with his belongings in it?

Not sure about the hanky on a stick but I've manage to track down Jeremy and so have others:

    I’m a bear called Jeremy,
    I can do most anything,
I can play and I can sing,
Little tunes like doh ray me.

    When he heard me sing,
The King of Birds said to me,
    ‘Here’s for you dear thing,
    A whistle that goes tweet-tweet
    Tweet-tweet tweet-tweet tweet-tweet, tweet.’

    I’m a Bear called Jeremy,
    I can do most anything,
I can play and I can sing,
    Yes my name is Jeremy!

The theme didn't ring any bells for me but I found a couple of clips on YouTube which did. I think the hanky on a stick comes from an episode where he wanted to run away or something. Something which obviously made an impression on the 3 or 4 year old me.

The theme so you can sing along with the lyrics posted in the above post
