I think I'm finally getting somewhere with Photoshop. :D My goal with these photos is to make them pop Velvia Style. The originals were RAW and looked very drab. I've probably over done it a little with the Tiger pic.

    Any comments please.

Looks good to me Dave, if I wanted to be really picky I might say the peacock is a shade on the bright side but it's totally a matter of personal taste.
    Well done.

It's Dublin Zoo. The spider is from my back garden. But I couldn't help reworking it. Post processing comparisons are below. The Peacock was a little bit clipped in the whites on the original. Maybe i'll try recover any clipping in future with Lightroom. Then export them to PS.

    Comparison:
Old Post Processing Vs New Velvia Style

THink I prefer the old style for the spider. The new one looks a bit washed out...

You have spiders like this on your back garden? Tell me where you live and I won't be 20 km close!!!

LOL... It's body is no more than 1cm long. I used a close-up lens the 250D on an EF-S 60mm macro. Light source was from a Canon Ringlite flash. I was able to focus almost 2 inches from him/her. Just lucky it didn't run away.

There is a pale blu-ish thing going on in the darker out of focus areas. I'll see what I can do about that.

If you want an accurate Velvia look, you could do worse than 'find' or buy Alien Skin Exposure Photoshop plugin - that'll apply a Velvia colour profile to your original image. It's slightly less fiddly, and more flexible, than Photoshop methods (using Channel Mixer), although it's easy enough to make actions for these. But you'd also need to work the curves to get it right.

If you have Lightroom theres loads of Velvia presets for the various camera models out there, it should only be a matter of doing a search.

I've got gigs & gigs of actions, plugins, presets etc.... I havn't used them. Way too many dodgy ones. What I did use for these is fredmirandas Velvia $24 and Guy Gowans retouch work flow (DVD €52). Plus PS unsharp mask.

I might buy FMs intellisharp pro. I've read really good things about it.

Thanks Borderfox. Glad you like it. I just bought FM Intellisharpen Pro 2.5. It now works with CS3. Looks really good. Should save me some time over Unsharp Mask.

nice shots. the tiger is lovely. the greeny/blue fence is a slight distraction though, but a quick selective colour adjustment layer or saturation adjustment layer in photoshop will solve that easily.

Brilliant photos there. The colours really stands out in the 1st and 3rd photos, lovely and vibrant but still manages to look natural. The tiger looks great too,the only one I don't think the style suits is the spider. The original looks a lot more natural, the yellowish colour doesn't work as well.Great processing otherwise.
