I hope it's legal i'm so getting one if it is.........

i can assure you it isnt legal. the reason i know is it took nearly 4 weeks of costant near daily badgering of gunnerairsoft to change the spring before they shipped one to me.

the good news is changing the spring is a very simple task. i would recommend you ask keith to do some mods..especially in light of the number of rsov packages that have been held by shipping companies.

    well, the link has changed:

    PARA
    MK2
    Minimi

they are the same as the one I have, which was 170euro on gunnerairsoft.com, and they are all most definitely over the limit, they fire 400fps out of the box, however as Fall said, changing the spring is a very simple task on these so if you can convince keith to swap out the springs before shipping your sorted

One thing though: if you want a M249 that works seamlessly out of the box, dont get the A&K, but if your willing to spend sometime tweaking it, it's well worth the money, there's a pretty in-depth review of the PARA version here by FarEast on arnie's, he also points out a couple of things that need fixing (hopup and boxmag mainly)

the stock a&k m249s can range anywhere from 350 -400 fps, the rsov is at this lvl, where as the ones sold thought uk sites are already downgraded to 1j limitexample would be airsoftworld.net they also have the vat already included so all makes the price a bit more.

I would be weary of importing the a&k in stock as its not just a little but a lot over limit :(

Puding, please read the charter, you shouldnt be wary, you shouldnt even be considering it, its over the legal limit, thats it, you dont order it unless it's getting downgraded.

I must say sorry then, my point was not made clear, this was more down to my rushed posting than anything else. My point was more to do with the large volume of miss information posted via some websites or complete lake of information on others which may mislead people to believing the item there importing is under the limit.

My original post would have had more sense and been clearer if i had included my example i forgot to include. It should have read....

"I would be weary of importing the a&k in stock as its not just a little but a lot over limit :( , make shore when importing that they are down graded or at least have the spring removed and not shipped with the item as i did, them simple replace it with a suitable spring when it arrives."

(i ordered mine from boomtown arms and they where able to remove the spring free with no problems)

This does kinda open up a wider issue, the a&k from all my looking will always be over the legal limit in stock. Where as there are a large number of clones and even 'main stream' makes star classic army etc etc on the market that are over the limit (or can be over the limit this is very important with clones as there fps can fluctuate greatly from under the legal limit to over the limit) and regularly imported into the country from places like hk and sold my retailers in the country already, but thats a completely different topic :)

The thing is retailers in this country will only import items shooting less than a Joule...they will have them downgraded prior to import or simply not import them, accusations of otherwise could be considered libel.

Really? person experance of people buying items from the uk and ireland can contradict this, if you would like information people pm, i gave no examples for the reason that im was never making accusation or anything like that, i;ve only come across one mention of a uk/ireland retailor downgradeing the clones and they where included the last post.

If this is a common practice for Uk/Ireland retailers to downgrade there items it may be a good idea to encourage the practice of posting this information as it would help to clarify the matter and help people make inform discussions (i did mention the fact about the large amount of contradicting information that is about).

    Edit:
i think airsoft scotland was going to sell 1 j models...
why i mention them in my first post as there the only uk/ireland retailer I've come across that states this.

This has nothing to do with the original post ,accusations of anykind take them up else where

You seem to have miss quoted me there, but i will once again say i made no accusations about anything and only stated the information that i can across when i was trying to import the a&k249 and other items safely into Ireland.

Yeah, I ordered mine from them on the 15th of September. They are supposed to arrive tomorrow. I plan to write up a complete description of the sheer arrogance of Airsoft World/Scotland in the retailer experience thread.
