Contracting in the UK

    Hello,
I got a job offer from the UK (I know that this is an Irish forum but I am currently based here and don't know any similar UK sites). It's a contract, type of work: consulting, industry:software, area: Java EE. I've been offered 390 GBP a day. I know that for almost all of the time the work will involve travelling around the UK and sometimes abroad. I took a look at average contract rates for Java developers in London and they seem to be around 430 GBP, however I know that the salaries published on recruitment websites are not excatly representative as many offers don't have a salary next to it and therefore don't get counted into the average. Does this rate seem to be low taking the travelling factor into account? I have 4 years experience.

    Thanks!

It depends on what industry. Most contracters in London work in banks so get a fortune. If its not a bank then it will be lower.

The rate is fine but you should also be getting travel expenses seperately.
