I'm selling my car this evening but it's out of tax. The person coming this evening is paying me to tax it online before they arrive but you need to give insurance details - and I'm no longer insured on this car. What do I do? Should I get the buyer to forward me their insurance details?

Yeah, Being honest I have always given my policy Number as 123456789 as I could never be bothered rooting out the cert.....

To get truly technical, If they wanted to they could give you a rollocking over the fact that you TAXED the car in your name and gave somebody elses Insurance details..... To be fair though the odds of being copped on are quite slim so I wouldnt really worry too much about it.....

Being honest, you are TAXING the car and not yourself so it isnt a big deal....

The buyer is aware he needs to doorstep you again to obtain the vehicles new TAX disc doesnt he ?

....and that he will eventually have to go to the tax office when ownership changes....
