I'm thinking of getting the NTL "Go Digital Max" package for €30.99 a month ..
    seen here : http://www.upc.ie/television/digitaltv/max/
I currently have the basic Analogue TV package ...seen here :
    http://www.upc.ie/television/basictv/
it is €21.49 a month so considering its only an extra fiver (roughly)
    i may aswell get it
just making sure this is right theres no extra costs added on to it or anything?
    any info appreciated
also when you order it how long does it take to be sent out ect.
    Cheers
    Cian

It's an extra €8.50 per month - the €30.99 is the total price you'll pay each month for TV. Installation is free at the moment for existing customers so no extra one off or "set up" charges like that. Usually takes about seven working days for them to come out and install the digital box, from the date you order it. And you can still get the ordinary 17 odd analogue channels on other TVs, or VCR etc.

Hope this is of some help!

Isn't there an additional €2.00 charge if you opt not to pay by direct debit? Making it €32.99?

No there's no €2 charge for not paying by direct debit,NTL weren't allowed to this.

    Strange. There's a €2 non-DD charge on my NTL/UPC bills.

I thought that it wasn't illegal for them to do it at the moment, but there's a law working its way through that will make it illegal some time in 2008?

What ever package you go for be warned...NTL have recently changed their cancellations policy.

You have to give them a 30 day notice if you wish to cancel (even if you are outside the 12 month contract period). Well, fair enough, but they recently changed it so that you have to write in (not email) to notify them that you wish to cancel.

They notification only starts from the date they receive the letter.

I have tried to cancel my account with them for four months now, but they always offer me incentives to stay. The last straw came when i received a bill €100 more then it should of been. They admitted their mistake but had to apply to get credit back on my account blah blah blah.

So I rang to cancel for once and for all and they immediately offered me another €50 credit. I told them I was not interested and their attitude completely changed.

They told me I would have to write in. I explained I was outside the contract, they did not care. I asked to see the terms and conditions, they suggested I apply under the freedom if information act to obtain my original contract (I am not making this up). They were pretty obnoxious and totally geared toward making it as difficult as possible to stop the service.

The letter has gone and I have signed up to Sky. One last bill with NTL and I am free...FREE!!!!!

All I know is that they definately weren't allowed to add the €2 the head guy from the National Consumer Agency wouldn't allow it so NTL had to scrap it.
I'm not charged the €2 for not paying by DD if you are I'd be getting onto to them for my money back.

As far as I know, the €2 euro charge was not allowed to be applied to existing customers before a certain date. However, any new customers who signed up after that date could have this DD charge.

The €2.00 non-direct debit charge does not apply to customers who signed up before November 2006.

All customers that subscribed from November 2006 have to pay the €2.00 non-direct debit charge.
