hey, just wondering is there somewhere that people can go in the arts block to work on group assignments?? as in a place with tables and stuff and where you can talk/discuss/work on projects without fear of dodgy looks from people reading (library) but that is not too noisy?

i use alot of words to describe stuff, but ya know what i mean yeah?! :D

    thanking you!

Try occupy a room. Ask your department if there are any rooms free.

Sparing that, head up to the fifth floor, and sit on the window-sills.

I quite like the Hist conversation room in the GMB - there's a smaller table that can take 6-8 people, it's rarely too noisy (excluding the 1-2 slot, which features much lunching) and no one cares if you talk.

It's never really affected me (only had 2 group projects, ever, and for one of those my partner dropped out of college prior to the deadline), but it is kinda shocking that the best TCD has to offer by way of group study areas is a windowsill on the 5th floor.

There are better places than the 5th floor, but the OP specified the Arts Block. The room opposite the computer room in the GMB is excellent for group work.

There are lots of little nooks and crannys in the arts block that are great for meeting two or three people for group work.

Just wander around for a while until you find one - I use floors 3 and 5 normally, occasionally 6

hmmm occupy a room, that sounds like a good idea. im guessing if there is nobody in it at 5 past the hour then it's free?? :D

window-sills sound promising, have yet to wonder up to the 5th floor though!

gmb sounds good too but more than likely i would get distracted by food!

yeah it is kinda wierd there is nowhere to do group stuff, although there are big group-like looking tables in the corner of the upper lecky near the windows at the back, but again there is that no talking rule.......haha

yeah what's with all the talking? i think it goes in waves. sometimes ya can hear EVERYTHING and other times ya tink your the only person there! only way i can block it out is to read in one of those booth things.

I always find it really hard to find a place to sit down and talk about project work. Today I used the couches outside of the Ed Burke, it was alright but the work wasn't too serious.
