Airsoft Goggles and Masks questions

I am looking for a recommendation for Eye/Face protection in Airsoft- Goggles and Mask, Full face mask.
I find that there are lots of different combinations and types and it is kind of difficult to choose judging by a picture. Very few reviews about practical solutions.
What goggles and masks are you using?
How do you manage fog –(sprays or anti fog goggles)?
Anybody using the same mask for airsoft and paintball?

I am ruling out mesh masks as I don’t like to see through mesh (from my fencing years exp.)

I'm the opposite I do classical style fencing and prefer the mesh.

I personally use (and prefer) shooting glasses. I have the Guarder C-3 ones which are absolutely awesome. As it is they hardly fog up, but I've coated them with a wax stick supplied with gasmasks and they haven't fogged up once in the past 6 months. Bonus for me with these are that you can get perscription inserts that sit behind the glasses and it comes with a number of different lenses.

I dislike masks. When I start sweating I find it very uncomfortable. Additionally it makes it hard to use the cheeckpad of your rifle and therefore tough to look down a scope or ironsights.

The drawback is that I may end up with a small welt (or if I don't keep my mouth shut a chipped tooth) on my face.

(it also looks more realistic as well)

i use a Scott paintball mask which has thermal lenses in the goggles, never have problems with them fogging, even last weekend in the wet/rainy weather, if i could get onto the scott website i'd post a link to them

just as a note, Paul is banning the use of glasses soon (if not already) at HRTA, full seal goggles only from now on, i.e. absolutely no gaps around/near the eyes, regardless of how small they are

i also prefer to use glasses, and i have the same problem using iron sights with a full mask

Edit: obviously ventilation holes in goggles are allowed, but you know what i mean :)

I don't think the mesh in airsoft goggles/facemasks is quite the same as the mesh in fencing masks. I think it's easier to see through the airsoft mesh as it's not quite as fine as the fencing mesh. There are bigger 'holes' in the airsoft mesh.

now i find my jt mask i got from MIA to be very good over all ,but last week in the rain it fogged up so bad i had zero visibility and had to keep clearing the lens even though the mask is full of ventilation holes,
il have to find some thing to stop the fogging,

That ban includes the likes of ESS ICE glasses?

Been looking into goggles/masks for ages also. Trying to avoid buying a lemon and ending up having to fork out for a better pair.
At this stage, I'm thinking I'll end up going for these or these from ebaybanned.

Here's a wire mesh mod you might find interesting too.

Aww hell I just bought 2 sets of saftey glasses bah, Guess I'll have to get some of those combat goggles now. Yeah I find the worse thing with the masks is not being able to see down the scope or iron sight.
As for fogging up I take the old scuba diver approach and just spit on the lens generally works fine.

    I have the poweh!

Actually, was at a Paintball place down in Limerick, for a mates stag, and what they got us to do at the start, was get a bit of Fairy liquid on a tissue, wipe the front of the mask, and then with a clean bit of tissue, wipe it off. Also, dab a bit inside the mask, on the lens.

2 hours later, only my glasses fogged up a bit. The paint sometimes stopped me from seeing, but aside from that, it never fogged up.

Does it comply with the rule:

"No gaps that a 6mm pellet could pass through may be present"

You are kidding! Has this been a problem? I find it strange that glasses specifically designed for airsofting would be banned. I can understand things you'd find in your school (though, ironically enough they'd probably be allowed since they usually have that big shield on either side - not that they'd protect from bbs, but to hell with it right?).

it hasnt been a problem yet as such, but i think it is because paul is concerned that people are not using appropriate glasses, however i cant speak to him so ill wait for him to answer on that

They should be fine, they're designed to resist bbs and theres no gaps.

My question is why do it now instead of not doing it right off the bat

Good thing i have goggles just need to anti fog them:p

    Alright, thanks!

I don't get why this is being done at all.

Appropriate glasses are accepted on skirmish sites through-out the world!

I'd understand a "masks for under 18s" rule, but if I want to play with my glasses designed by an airsoft company for airsofting, then I should be able to.

In England I used to use MilSpec gas masks and know some people who use firefighter breathing systems face masks. Both have large almost bullet proof vision areas and are spefically designed to allow breathing and no loss of visablity. Also indimidates the feck out of newbies!
