    i know this might sound odd but i have no idea, i want to buy an old farm house when i say old it does not have any roof on it, the four wall are still standing just about. my question is do i need planning to do it up, i have asked a few people all say different things any help would be great .

    The structure may well have "lapsed used" status now .You may not be permitted to do anything with it . Check with the local authority .

    In a word yes.

    I recall a case from a few years ago whereby a roof was placed on old wall steads and retention permission had to be sought for it.
