SCSI problem with Win Server 2003

I’m looking to connect a DLT tape library to a new Server with Win Server 2003 OS. I’ve installed the SCSI HBA but when I reboot the server with the device connected I get a message saying
Searching for device at HBA 0, ID 0, LUN 2.
It then just seems to hangs there.
Just hoping someone may have an idea what this problem is.

    Thanks

Is the SCSI link correctly terminated?

All this happens before the BIOS looks at the partition table on the HDD moving to computers.

more info on the server may be needed

if the server has SCSI drives and the first HDD has an ID of 0 ( usual )
then if the TBU also has a SCSI ID of 0 that would be the problem
but extremely bad practice of putting TBU and HDD's on the same controller if there is any way to avoid it. Also don't put anything other than HDD's on a SCSI raid controller

make sure it boots with out the TBU and then try changing the TBU ID

also the SCSI controller BIOS should detect the drive.
