    Hi!

I have an interview this coming Thursday for Executive Officer in the Public Service.

If anyone has any experience in public service interviews or specifically executive officer interviews that would be great!

    Thanks!

I went for the EO interview a couple of years ago. It's quite a daunting experience, you are interviewed by a board of three people, who are usually at the other side of a large table. I didn't like the way that my interview was conducted but from what I've heard of other interviews it's the way it's done in the PAS. The interviewers honestly felt like bullies. My one bit of advice would be (and I'm not sure if this applies to you) but make sure that you have your backup scenarios worked out. I was asked about two of them and I reckon it ruined my chances.

Completely painless in my experience. I was interviewed (successfully) a year and a half ago. There was a panel of two, they were both very pleasant. They stuck to the five competency areas specified in the pre-interview questionnaire. It helped to have some other examples other than those I put in the questionnaire. They asked no awkward questions, which was good because I have a giant gap in my CV.

Just have plenty of examples of where and when you demonstrated the competencies and you should have no problems.

    Good luck!

I agree, i did mine 4 years ago and it was grand. There awas three on my panel, 2 men an a woman (in the english interview) It wasn't a bad experience but know your application form backwards as well as the competancies. Have a few back up scenarios ready as well so as you can demonstrate that you are able to think on your feet. Are you doing the Irish interview as well?

I'm also doing one of them interviews in a few weeks time, Has anybody any advice on the Junior management exercise, I.e. what it involves and how to prepare for it? They say letter writing is part of it?
