Back home after Oz year - claim tax refund on my own?

Hey there, just a quick question - I recently arrived back in Ireland from a year out on a round the world ticket, having worked in Australia for a few months. I applied online to claim back my superannuation payments and that seems pretty straightforward.
My question is can I claim back my tax on my own i.e. avoid using taxback.com or other agencies as their fees are so high? I'm very broke after the trip :( ! Any help is appreciated, thanks!!

You should be able to do it online through the Australian Taxation Office, but you will probably need some kind of statement from your employer/s saying what you earnt.

Well I'm not having much luck with this - got a "free" online quote from taxback.com & they said I'd get a refund of just over $2,000 (not hassle free anyway cos then they sent me two emails and left a voicemail on my phone to follow it up!). Then I filled out the Australian Government Tax form online and it came up with a refund of $24!! Hmmmm have obviously gone amiss somewhere on the tax form...

In fairness to these taxback companies, they do know ways to get the most money back that you may not be able to do if you do it on your own.

AS far as i knew it was a pain in the arse trying to do it yourself. I know the taxback companies fees are high but I just used them as it was the easiest way to do it. They way I looked at it was free moeny so whatever I got I got. Thought taxback.com are crap and not the fastest bunch.

In the end I gave up trying to sort it out on my own - a friend recommended expresstaxback.com as they charge a flat fee of AUS$99 and can get your money in 7 working days. So I've gone through them and hopefully will have the refund in a week or so!

I went with Express Tax a few months back - thought about doing it myself but was advised against as strictly speaking, you must reside in the one place in Oz for a duration in excess of 6mts while on a Working Holiday Visa to qualify for a tax refund.

Dunno how tax companies manage it but ask no questions... & all that ;)

Everything was perfect and couldnt complain about anything to be honest!
