You'll have to tell me what technology is used for digital radio in the US.

We don't even have a non-trial digital radio service. If you were hoping to pick up digital radio from the UK, provided you can get a decent signal, then you'll need a DAB radio alright.

By now I am sure that you will have found the anser - but for any one who pickjs up this trail:-

    1. The USA uses a Digital Radio System called IBOQ or HD Radio. By comparison it is a very limited technological offering and is only used in the USA. (Many reasons - mostly purely commercial)

    2. The DAB service from RTE not only delivers great quality in the three service areas - it also provides Radio stations that are only available Digitally!

DAB does not tie the listener down to a Set Top Box - or a computrer terminal - but if onechooses a portable receiver (Battery Powered "Kitchen" Radio / Boom Box etc - or PMP / Cell phone) from the range of over 150 devices currentl available on the market (ANd growing daily) - you can receive these services on the move! DAB was desined as a mobile format - so make the most of it!

Obviously - a DAB receiver workingon RTE's broadcasts will also be able to benefit from any of the services transmitted on DAB from the North as well - and if you travel to the UK - there are over 350 services spread across 46 multiplexes as well.
