Can anyone please enlighten me on how much you can claim back in tax from dental work?
    Thanks

You can claim back the full amount of any non-routine dental work, less the first 125EURO

The definition in the legislation is 'non-essential' , so for example you couldnt claim back the cost of a filling or general maintenance.

If you are going for the Colgate smile and need to spend €5000 to get there then you could claim that back the year after you have incurred the expenditure.

    OK I just had a check up - €160, 2 fillings - €300 and an Xray - €50. I assume I cannot claim any of that back.

I will have to have 4 Widom teeth out - I assume I can get that back?

how about if you do damage to your front teeth from a fall and you have to get a potential root canal and have them crowned?

Tax can only be claimed on certain procedures via a med II form at the standard rate 20% ATM. A lot of the above information is rubbish. See this form. Only non routine procedures can be claimed. Wisdom teeth are often covered by VHI if the surgeon is fully participating. PM me for details
