Have to buy three of these for pressies (one has to be red!).

    on apple.ie they're 199 incl postage
    on komplett.ie they're 179 plus postage

would that be as cheap as they get?

I think there the same price everywhere, so seeing one for any less then 200 is a good deal.
Got one in the states though a few weeks ago, works out much cheaper with the exchange rate, so unless you have a way of getting one over there, so with komplette

does anybody know of any sites that will ship them from the u.s.a. as the exchange rate at the moment is brilliant, or will you get caught at customs ???

As far as I know Apple stop dealers from selling cross borders like that. Certainly that was the case 3 years ago when I bought my iPod Mini (ended up buying it in person in the States in the end). I would imagine your only real bet with America is to know someone there or going there - in that case you would get one no hassle through customs (not that I'd condone that ;)). I'm open to other opinions on the state of cross border sales though.

Although Apple are very strict on their pricing with suppliers I've never heard of them interfering in private selling (which is effectively what eBay is).

There should be no problem buying an ipod off eBay, just ask for it to be marked "gift". It is a gift for yourself isn't it?!;)

Plus remember that Ipods sold outside of the EU don't have the volume limited on them.
Ipods in the EU are only about 70% of the volume of ipods in the US.
It sucks..I ordered a 2nd gen 4gig nano a few months back and couldn't believe how low the sound was..
Had a mate bring home a 3g 4gig nano from NY this time around..

There's software that can easily fix this.

EDIT: it seems it doesn't work on 6g ipods however.

    Keep an eye on ibood.
They previously had one for 149euro + 12 delivery, but as far as i remember, you pay for delivery once, and can order up to 4 items, so they get these in again, and if you order 3, they'll work out about 154euro each, which is quite a nice saving (138euro!!)

Of course, i dont think you have the colour option, and theres no guarantee they'll get them in again soon, but they usually tend to get something from apple in every 3weeks, and its been 22 days since that last ipod.

i'm glad they're restricted, i dont want to hear other peoples songs on the bus and your ears take a beating if you have it up full anyway

OP - do you know anyone working in a multinational you could prob get it through their EPP on apple.ie. works out at 185 incl postage and free laser engraving - great if they're for prezzies. I know Intel are in on the EPP, so maybe HP, MS and them are aswell
