Neither, the glass it twice the size it needs to be.

your image is 1573x2302 which is many many times bigger than it needs to be.

PS. if that glass had contained a decent drink then it would be half empty and in serious need of topping up.

Theoretically it would be both half-full and half-empty. I would imagine if you were to measure it accurately enough you would discover that the glass was slightly on the full side or slightly on the empty side.

It would need to be measured properly taking capilliary action into account!

I was half thinking of filling in half of the survey, but I half thought of quitting before half selecting half of the poll

    In a nutshell......

The government would say that the glass is fuller than if the opposition party were in power.

The opposition would say that it is irrelevant because the present administration has changed the way such volume statistics are collected.

The philosopher would say that, if the glass was in the forest and no one was there to see it, would it be half anything?

The economist would say that, in real terms, the glass is 25% fuller than at the same time last year.

The psychiatrist would ask, "What did your mother say about the glass?"

The physicist would say that the volume of this cylinder is divided into two equal parts; one a colorless, odorless liquid, the other a colorless, odorless gas. Thus the cylinder is neither full nor empty. Rather, each half of the cylinder is full, one with a gas, one with a liquid.

The seasoned drinker would say that the glass doesn't have enough ice in it.

The best one though...The banker would say that the glass has just under 50% of its net worth in liquid assets. :D

don't change the subject, there's no nutshell

its a glass half full, there's no such thing as half empty, something is empty or it's not empty.... there's no half empty :p

What if you drink from a bottle? Not very ladylike I know but..?
It's half empty if it's someone else's round and you want a refill

ooohhhh ohhhhh.....What did the little boy optimist do when the psychiatrist locked him in a room of straw?

    ........

    ..........

He started throwing the straw around shouting...."there must be a pony in here somewhere...!!"

And the meniscus and the surface tension and wettability of the container and the differential coefficients of expansion of the liquid and the container. You would need to take into account the Coriolis effect depending on where the glass is too.

    The glass is too big.

Heat the glass & contents to near boiling point and it will exceed the half full level, then bring it to the boil and after a short while it will exceed the half empty level.
