One can get a second reciever (and dual LNB) if its going to be an issue for you.

Alternatively a twin tuner PVR ( a reciever with a build in Hard drive) might be the answer. You can record the stuff on the other channel to HDD and subsequently copy it to DVD (or tape) if you want a more permanent copy

For some stupid reason noone has thought of a satellite reciever with a build in DVD burner yet

I was thinking about this for the last few days since I saw a BBC Digital UK advert which said after the Digital Switchover, you'll only be able to record the programme you're watching. This is insane, and defeats the purpose of recording for the most part. How will this be rectified in the future? You mentioned a twin tuner PVR, but are there any other ways around this? Would a Digital tuner in the TV solve this, or are Digital receivers too complex, compared to Analogue ones?

but i'm sure there are pioneer hard drive dvd recorders with built in digital tuners.

If you buy a receiver with a twin tuner and a hard drive, can you play the recorded programme straight from the hard disc?

Does the twin tuner allow you to take an extra RF output to feed another television on a different channel to the one you're watching (or recording)?
i.e. can you save yourself buying another receiver if you want to watch TV (on a different channel) in a different room?
