So are there any Jimmy Eat World fans out there? I just got a ticket to their show in Belfast in February. Ive been waiting to see them for so long, I absolutely love them. The new album Chase This Light is fantastic - their best yet, I honestly cant find a song that lets it down.

Note: Only talk about the Belfast gig here, not the Dublin one due to forum rules. Better safe than sorry!

Got one of thier albums, the self titled one. Fairly good, nothing special enough to bother going to Belfast for the under 18s gig though!

Feckin love Jimmy Eat World. <snip>

Bleed American is just an all round quality albums. The singles were all obviously excellent but my favourite song is 'A Praise Chorus'. It's fantastic.

I love Jimmy Eat World too...New Album is fantastic too...can't get enough of the tune Dizzy :D
I think they've yet to release an Album with a poor track on it.

You've heard Clarity and Static Prevails, right?

Yup and love them although Rockstar is probably my least favorite track and that's on Static Prevails.

Considering there have already been a couple of mentions of unwanted gigs in this thread as people seem incapable of following the rules I'm going to ask you to not gigs at all. Firstly, that's what the gigs/events forum is for and you're more than welcome to start a thread on the Belfast gig there. Secondly, people will just end up mentioning unwanted gigs. Any further mentioning of gigs will result in thread lockage and a week's ban.

Sorry to be such a nark but I don't want to be deleting posts from here every few hours. So if you could stick to discussions about Jimmy Eat World in general, you'd make me a very happy mod.

    clarity
    static prevails
    bleed american

    top albums in that order.

futures and chase this light are fecking poop.

Any other fans? They get snubbed a lot-"too emo"/"too poppy" being my favourite contradiction-but they really have a lot of deep stuff going on along with a lot of good rock tunes.
    Yeah.

My bad. Should've searched. Stupid noob.

This thread should probably be deleted, admins/mods.

Great band I love the power pop goodness they bring to my life with the last few albums.

Fell in love with Always Be straight away when listening to the new album

These guys haven't done anything decent since bleed american. Are they trying to reinvent themselves with the last two albums? Complete garbage. I'm still a big fan of their old stuff, but wow, I find it hard to believe the same person can enjoy the after if they've heard the before.

Just got back from the Belfast gig - the lads sure do know how to put on a show! They were fantastic. Of course they finished up with 'The Middle', but 'Pain' was my pick of the bunch - the crowd went nuts. Also lost count of how many emo kids asked me to but them bear, but oh well!

What the hell are you on about? Futures is a great album. It may be a bit cheesy in places but JEW were always a bit overly heart-on-sleeve in the first place. Futures is full of great songs, I can happily isten to the whole album in one sitting/bus ride. Calling it 'poop' is just silly.

I use Futures to workout to in the gym all the time. Great album. JEW don't hide their pop sensibilities

they have some really brilliant pop songs that luckily stay on the right side of being 'emo'.
an enjoyable listen all the time, even if you have a serious dislike for anything emo-related, or even pop-related.

To be fair, there's far more of a leap in sound between Static and Clarity, and then between Clarity and Bleed American, then there is between Bleed American and Futures.
I'd agree with you in that I prefer the older stuff, Clarity being my favourite album of all time, Chase This Light being a disappointment IMO.

Anyone else a member of the JEW board?
