    Oh, good news indeed.

I look forward to see how it compares to Sky Sports News...

I can't imagine it'll be great for the first few months but it might cover a bit of football from Scotland, Germany, Holland, etc. to advertise their live games.

Good to see it will appear on satellite from the get go. But will it appear on the Sky Digital EPG?

That's what I was about to ask... T'would be a pain if it was only available through the other channels thingy...

It was reported that Setanta closed the PPV1 (channel 481) so they could use the slot for Setanta Sports News. With channels spaced 2 channels apart, channel 450 sounds like a likely number for SSN.

    Good news.
Now I'll finally be able to ditch that News mix, bye bye Sky Sports News!
    More money saved.
    regards

I wouldn't be over-confident that this will be FTA on satellite. According to their website:
Setanta Sports News is free to air on the Virgin Media platform, and also on satellite, and it will cover, in detail, all relevant sports stories from the UK and abroad, regardless of whether the event is broadcasting on a Setanta channel.

I read that as saying that it will be free on Virgin Media, and that it will also be available on satellite, but not necessarily FTA. I could well be wrong, but until I see clearer wording, I expect it to be part of the Setanta subscription pack.

But isn't the actual Sky News Channel going to be encrypted...maybe this new Setanta channel is the reason Sky news will be encrypted?? otherwise like you and probably me Sky would lose at lot of News and events mix subscribers...

I read it as free on satellite anyway nothing is actually FTA on Virgin Media
