I'd like to know what software is good enough for creating decent slide shows for photo's using music and captions? My friend has Ulead Videostudio 10 plus...would that be suitable?

    any help would be great.

    thanks

I've used Nero (version 7) to create slideshows, with music before. Worked very well.

MySlideShow Gold and PicturesToExe (possibly Pictures2exe) might be worth looking into.

ProShowGold from www.photodex.com. A simply brilliant product.

Proshow Gold http://www.photodex.com/products/proshowgold/ I've done a few with this, sinc your shots to the lenght of your chosen music, a good choice of fade out and transitions between shots, easy to add in captions and titles.
"I liked so much I bought the company" NOT
    It is good :D

Carrigman you beat me to it

powerpoint works if you're not interested in paying extra for a new package. You can do all the fading and transitions using the animation settings

I'd use Flash, but theres a bit of learning in it if you're not already familiar. It'd give you great control over how you want to present it though.

Worse case scenario you could also pop on a CD and put the photos through powerpoint :)

If you have Windows Vista you can make slide shows with Windows movie maker.

Add music and stuff it's not to bad at all.

Picasa, a free download from Google (Windows only) http://www.picasa.com lets you create a movie with zooming pics, smooth transitions and sound. Also, if you caption your pics they come in as well.

On a Mac, iPhoto (as mentioned) is the dog's b***, you can do all of the above, and more, but you can also use iDVD to make DVD's that work in most DVD players,

I've just purchased proshow gold with the intention of creating slide shows to upload to youtube. However, I've ran into some problems when trying up upload to youtube. Can anyone tell me what output option I use in Proshow gold to upload slide shows to youtube? I'm kinda lost as to what format to use.

    Thanks
