    Hi,

    1) What is the legalities in parking in a bus lane or loading bay out of hours? My guess would be that it makes them same as the rest of the street.

    2) If the bus lane or loading bay is on a street where there is paid parking on the same or opposite side of the street, do you pay for parking when the bus lane or loading bay's hours are over or is it free parking? If the end of paid hours coincide then this is obviously not an issue.

A place where this comes to mind is Georges St/Aungier St in the evenings.

    thanks.

Loading bays should have signage denoting the hours it is for "loading"; typically they are 7AM 7 PM. As they are not pay and display parking areas, no payment should be required. Pay and Display Areas will show signage of their operating times (Most in the city cease at &PM, some a little earlier and there is some hours on Sundays).

Bus Lanes are to be kept free during their designated hours of operation; parking in same outside of these times can vary from location to location subject to normal regulations ie Clearways, Yellow Lines etc so best check for any signage to the contrary. The examples you refer seem to be grand parking after hours.

Most of those bus lanes are 7am-7pm, however the cycle lanes are also clearways AFAIK, the loading bays will have specific hours.

You only need to pay if there is parking bays and meters.

Possibly, but the signs often indicate the cycle track only operates at the same time as the bus lane does.

@ OP, all the information is almost always provided on the accompanying signs.

    I saw this earlier today

    Double Yellow Lines
No parking at any time except while actively loading/unloading for a maximum of 30 minutes.

    Single Yellow Lines
No parking during hours indicated on the time plate (usually 07.00 – 19.00 Monday – Saturday), except while actively loading/unloading for a maximum of 30 minutes.

    Loading Bays
No parking during hours indicated on the time plate (usually 07.00 –19.00 Monday – Saturday).
Only vehicles with a goods tax disc can use loading bays while actively loading/unloading for a maximum of 30 minutes.

    Clearways/Bus Lanes
No parking or stopping during hours indicated on time plate.

    Other Parking Restrictions
It is illegal to park in a way which interferes with traffic flow or obstructs or endangers other road users

Local bye-laws typically have exemptions for street service and street construction vehicles.
