Promoting Trinity on Youtube

    Hiya,

I know UCD used advert banners on Youtube to promote the Horizins programme. DIT have just put up this video to promote student activities there.

Edit: Just learned how to embed these things:

    There's more videos on www.dit.ie/life

Has Trinity done anything similar? Is it a good idea?

If they do, I hope they find a better music-images match. The song doesn't suit what's going on at all!

    College has these podcasts, however.

Knowing myself in my impressionable years, a video like that would certainly have made me think about going to DIT. I noticed that Trinity tend not to advertise in any similar fashion. Do they really need to? It's already the most popular college in the country.

And what soc/club goes and dives off the 40 foot? I do that off my own bat, but usually involves taking the morning off college to cure the hangover.

I often think that too. I think of what an advertising campaign for Trinity would be like: I have it all done out in my head. However, I then realise that it's not all necessary!

If El Heg D'John got his way, he'd get Trinity College blazed everywhere - on buses, at the DART stations, and even on women's breasts if he is to be believed.

Ok, I *may* be exaggerating slightly...

God, I expected her to breathe fire. Good old loudmouth-wolf-in-ugly-clothing. Bet she's a feminist because she's ugly. Wagon.

No its a bloody university...we dont need cheap crass classless advertisements with "clever" slogans like "think big...think TCD" or "your future starts here"

We are one of the most respected higher learning institutions in the world, lets leave the advertising well enough alone.

    Have you seen www.myucd.ie

It's a different approach. They're obviously embracing the marketing thing - although they haven't started tattooing women's bosoms like the provost (yet).

Have a look on the UCD board for some comments on the people included in the UCD ads, including how truthful they are about the courses/years they are in.

"Retire to the pav for a nice cold pint watching the cricket" she knows her target audience.
