do you have original install media that came with the laptop? What brand/model is it? There's a good chance you have a recovery partition on your drive, that will restore your laptop to factory settings in the press of a few buttons.

tried it over the phone with dell but was having so much hassel.what price should i be looking at i was quoted €100 in one store.
