    Have a look at golfgps.ie

Think they sell them direct off the web.
    Don't know how much though.
    Good luck.

i think the sureshot one is the best for Ireland...they certainly have most of the courses in Ireland mapped

That sounds a great product, most GPS system I have seen seem to charge an annual fee, although with the US Defence department providing a free signal not sure why.

How do you use the product, do you punch in the hole you are on and it does its calculations, or is there some 'chip' required on the flag etc?

you pay for them to keep the course databases up to date, they map them by visiting the courses or via aerial maps. afaik they keep track of what hole you are on based on the database and give you yardages to front and back of green and hazards based on this. 10 metre accuracy makes this a bit crap if you ask me though, especially if going for the greeen.

Never used one, would be handy I guess but just another thing to slow down play if everyone is checking gps yardages..

10 metre accuracy is crap, and no more useful than picking a club by sight.

Anyone tried the laser rangefinders, accurate to a metre or less I think but Ive never tried one.
