    hey guys,

I'll be flying over to Luton in a couple of weeks and will have awhile to burn in the airport while I am waiting for someone. Anything exciting I could do (prob not!!)?? What I really want to know is whether there are any nice bars, shopsetc i could hang out in for a couple of hours?

    Thanks,

There isn't anything too exciting in Luton Airport really - bar, cafe, shops etc

I am heading over shortly and I was wondering if anyone has good websites for booking train tickets into central London (Kings Cross)- the Luton Airport website has a lot of train company links, and to be honest I don't know where to start.

I got the train from Luton to King Cross a few months ago. Just buy a ticket at the desk in the airport, easy to find. Think it cost £11 return. Shuttle bus free to the train station. Takes about 30 mins to get to Kings Cross

An off-peak day return is £11, a monthly return is £20 or £22. They are standard fares that can be bought at the station before travel.

There are no cheap fares available for advance booking.

From the 9th of Dec all trains from Luton will stop at St Pancras International not Kings Cross Thameslink.

Hey all, just wondering if flying to Luton or even Stanstead/Gatwick is a good option compared to Heathrow. Is it a pain to ahve to get the trains in and out and just easier to pay the bit more to fly into Heathrow?

It really depends on where you're going within London. Each airport has it's relative advantage dependent on your destination.

I am going into the city centre to a concert and will be staying in there too. So thats why im wondering which is easiest. Obviously it would be London City Airport but the flights are much more expensive. Heathrow is good because on Underground line but more expensive than the 3 peripheral airports.

Where in the "city centre"? London City Airport isn't nessecarily best depending which part of central London you're going to :)

Well the concert is in the 02 Arena down by the docklands but I have no problem using underground or that. The hotel may or may not be in that area but somewhere central.

If it's the Docklands (which is pretty far from the centre of London ;)) then yes London City Airport is probably the best, but if that's out of the question I would suggest Gatwick.
When you arrive at Gatwick, get a First Capital Connect train to London Bridge. Change at London Bridge to the underground and take the Northern Line to Bank Station (1 stop). Change at Bank for the DLR and you can go out to towards the Docklands - lots of hotels out that way :)
