    using leopard 10.5.

before the upgrade to leopard i could go into my network folder (cmd+shift+k) and search through my vista 64bit - thought the os may worthy of knowing - along with my dlink DNS-323 NAS server.

i had a script made out to mount on login the NAS server, but it doesn't seem to work anymore i'll post the script just so you all can see.
    delay 2

    tell application "Finder"
        activate

        try
            mount volume "cifs://WORKGROUP;NEIL@DLINK/VOLUME_1"
        end try

    end tell

now the workgroup name (WORKGROUP) and login name (NEIL) and the device name and path (DLINK/VOLUME_1) haven't changed.

but now since the update to leopard when i go into the network folder (cmd+shift+k) nothing pops up at all, and if i run the script above, i get the busy mouse pointer and then finder stops responding.

    anyone have any ideas?

Yeah I have this problem too. You need to set the workgroup name in System Prefs > Network > Advanced > WINS. It's broken though so it won't remember the setting, not while the current location is active or if it's on "automatic". So you'll have to duplicate the location in the above menu, set the workgroup and then activate it.

Works, sort of. My Dell shows up but keeps disappearing. However it stays in the Shared sidebar, I didn't even have to mount it.

    Apple f**ked up.

ugh such a mess they have made with this tbh, i followed you instructions but it's still showing up nothing, i then try to using the mounting script and still nadda.

:( goes to apple. this needs to be fixed fast. i'm assuming there'd be a fair few people who'd be cheesed off at this.

got a work around that seems to be working at the moment.

    cmd+k then smb://192.168.1.X

it's still not as good as going into the network folder and just browsing but, it will do for now

The fix I posted above should still work though. Could you get the workgroup setting to save?

i could get the workgroup to save, did i have to assign ip's in the box below though, maybe that's why it wasn't working before for me.
