In the market for a 26" LCD for the bedroom. Having difficulty finding reviews on it. Anyone got a view, don't game just to watch a bit of tv / dvd. Could it be used as a computer monitor ?

Are pixmania ok to order from for tv's ?

Do a search on Boards for Pixmania. Some Boardies have expresssed vociferious opinions

it has a vga socket so could be used as a computer display but no display that size with a lowish resolution is going to show a PC screen very well.

Having bought many a thing from them, I would definitely recommend Pixmania! However, I never bought a TV from them. I'm sure it will be alright though. They're very professional.

As for the LG 26" LCD Television, I don't know how good it is. However, I got a LG 21" about 11 months ago for my PC and I have to say I am delighted with it! Again, LG are a good brand but you can't expect perfect quality when you're paying €453 EUR in fairness...

Well there seems to be only 2 other main candidates in the 26", sony bravia and samsung. I presume that is because purchasers of larger lcds are buying them for their living room and not bedroom. price seems pretty good and to be honest bracket is cheap as chips too...........surely someone out there has one ?

    Here -

is the pixmania France site with the LG range in that price category. They have some cheaper ones....of course smaller size.

I was thinking of buying for the bedroom, distance to the wall is about 4.5 to 5 metres. I saw an item on Lifehacker which said you need a 26" for 6.5 feet max, or 60"!! for 13 feet..... any advice?

I think 26'' will be okay but I would really love to know if anyone has got one and if there are any negatives. I can't find a shop that stocks same so I could go and suss out.

You'll have no difficulty using it as a PC monitor. I've found that 26" at 1366 x 768 works very well indeed for web browsing, etc.

I had a further look, on LCD compare, and they say that Pixmania's €449 (+€19.90 delivery, in France I presume) is the cheapest they have.

    Other sellers are €455 +50; €471 +25; €568 +19.

FWIW, they have 4 positive reviews......

I've the same TV, and I use it for Xbox (it has HDMI) and as a second monior (vga), quality is good, I've never had a problem with it. The speakers are underneath the screen.

    I think Dixons sell LG.

Like Stephanna, I have bought many items from Pixmania.

This LG does not have a digital free to air tuner, and only has one hdmi socket. Other than that it seems a very good spec (for that price).

The price is €453 + €16.90 postage to Ireland by parceforce.

Currys have the 27" version of this tv for £399.99 (about 600 euro)
Currys also have the new 26" version (with free-to-air tuner) for £449.99 (about 675 Euro)

I am also thinking seriously about this one from pixmania for the bedroom. I dont need free-to-air digital as I use sky digital.

    Boo

It does have 2 scart sockets though. It also has (according to the spec) a picture in picture facility, does this work with a sky box??

Yeps barry, picture in picture PIP. 2 scarts hdmi etc

The PIP works like you can have the pic off the tuner in the corner of a main AV input picture, cause it hs only one tuner. My Samsung 40" is like this and honestly I never use it. Can put Terestrial analoge or digital tv in the corner of say sky digital on a hdmi av channel.

For 453 euro it seems good value (for this week at least)

    Boo

On T&C you have to buy lcd & plasmas from your country's website i.e, .ie !

I bought the lg tv - very impressed so far but bought a Vogel VFW 226 wall support which is recommended by Pixmania and just realised that the max weight is 15kg yet the LCD is 20kg.Am I asking for trouble in using it - 30% more than recommended weight? If I send it back with note to say that they had recommended the support for use with the LCD would they refund me shipping costs? Or should I just use it-haven't opened the box yet?

Put a few extra screws in it. That'll hold her!

Dont count on gettign the transport costs back. Would be the same when you buy at Dixons and return it, they will not pay your fuel for the car either.
Knowing Vogels, you could take the risk by using the thing it will not break instantly. But when it comes down you ll be sorry.
I guess you rather be safe and get the right one for your tv.

I have a samsung 26 inch lcd that I bought from Komplett and performs very well with PC and DVD player thru HDMI. Sky FTV thru scart is ok but not great but thats to be expected with SD TV on LCDs. PIP is handy alright...if Im using the PC I can have the sky box showing in the corner and sound from sky on.

I'd weigh it yourself and see, I'd be suprised if it's actually 20kg.

Yeah I thought of that , it weighs just 20kg. I was wondering if I got the big bolts to act as wallplugs would that be sufficient or would the arm snap ?
Seems a bit unreasonable for Pixmania to recommend a product that doesnt seem suitable and probably not reimburse postage.

BTW (20kg is nothing compared to the weight of my Sony tv which is 21 inches in depth, must be 50kg)
