Extracted from my blog, i figure this will be of interest to you guys
    EPT cash games
I went down to the RDS on Tuesday for a look around and to see what games were running. I was pretty disappointed - the atmosphere was very weak and 2/5 was the biggest Hold'em game running. I didnt bother sitting in at all

    Wednesday

I got a call on Wednesday to let me know a 10/20 game was in progress so I decided to head down to play. The game looked pretty good and I bought in for 3k. Among the players at the table were Donnacha O Dea and a dude I recognised who I later discovered was John Duthie, the owner of the EPT. There was a young american guy to my left who turned out to be a good player I know through 2+2 and a scandinavian guy who seemed to be ok. Barny Boatman also joined the table later

I played a few pots where I raised and had to fold preflop, so I blinded down to 2k or so and then rebought for 500 more. The first interesting pot I played was where I opened 108o in the Co, and the American kid 3 bets me pretty fast on the Button. I had made it 100 after a limper, and he made it 315. Duthie insta called in the SB playing 3k or so and Boatman called playing 1k! I really wanted to shove, but the fear of Duthie snapping me with A5o and the fact boatman would be almost committed made me pussy out. I called instead, which is OK considering relative position and how bad the two guys behind teh button are. Flop comes K87 with a flush draw, and I check after both the blidns check. BU bets and duthie calls. I fold. Board runs K877 and 3 on river completes the flush after it goes check check on turn. Duthie bets 1k and mucks saying he had a weak king when the Button opens KJo.

The first big pot I won goes like this. One limper, I make it 100 with AA with the Ace of hearts. Good player calls behind me, and it folds to Scandi in the BB. He makes it 425 total. because i'm playing pretty shallow and I have the nuts I decide to slowplay and I just flat. Good player behind me will definitely come along because he and BB are 8k deep. Flop Comes 836 all hearts. BB checks, and I decide to check. I want to under rep my hand, there are very few bad cards, and I think I can get more value on the turn by checking. Turn comes 9o. BB bets out for 1.1k and I shove for 2.1k total. Good player behind me starts to think, and I now know I am ****ed. I'm 100% sure he has 99 here like always. He re shoves. ****. BB sighs and folds. I say you have 99, he shows 99. I say I have 10 outs. River Ao. Ship! This pot brings my stack to around 6.5k or so.

I flop a set against the same guy not too long later. He opens UTG and gets one caller. I call BB with 77. Flop comes 7 9 J with a flush draw. I check, he bets, guy folds, and I raise. he folds, saying it stinks of a bluff. I flop another set in a pot where Duthie Opens, Gets one caller with 800 or so, I call 44 in the SB and BB calls. Flop comes 410Q with a flush draw. I lead, and duthie and shortie call. Turn is a blank, and I bet enough to put shortie in. Duthie folds and guy calls drawing dead with JQo.

The last big pot that I played in that session was against Duthie. Duthie is stuck alot and splashing around like mad. 2 limps, I limp 109s on the button, Duthie raises to 125 on the BB. 1 call, I call. J103 with a flush draw I dont have. Duthie bets 300, which means nothing. Fold, I call. turn brings a 9 with another flush draw I dont have. Duthie overbets for 1.2k, and I put him in for 2.6k total. He calls, and mucks on a 5 river which completes the flop flush draw.

At the end, i decided to quit to bank my win of around 7k. I didnt want to play in such a big game OOP against a guy like Duthie who wanted to gamble with me until he got his money back. if he stacks me, I cannot rebuy to cover and I would be on tilt for days. I felt like a bit of a pussy but I think it was a good decision for me. I ended up going out drinking with some friends, and I came back and played some 2/5 at like 4am. Played one pot I can remember, where Conor Doyle raises to 35 after limpers and I call 65d on button playing 1.4k. 4 way flop comes 9 7 3 with a flush draw, and one diamond giving me backdoor. Checked to Doyle who bets 150. I raise quite fast to 650, which was too much. Conor thinks briefly and shoves, and I have to call. I hit 8 on the turn, and find out later he had nut spade draw which had me in bad shape, with 31% equity. not too sure on this hand actually, its quite an awkward spot.

Finished up 8.5k on the day.

    Thursday

I met up with Reggie for dinner on Thursday night [I wont the flip!!]and headed down to play some. We got the 10/20 game going and it was quite a good game. 2 huge fish at the table, but man was I bored. I got so few hands in that session that I can only remember two interesting spots, both againts the same villain.

I've been playing tight as hell because basically im a huge nit and also beacuse I'm card dead. I open UTG with 44 to 75 and get 1 caller. Caller is a young english kid who seems to be playing pretty well. He has my 3k covered. Flop is 1046 rainbow. I bet he calls. turn 10. GIN. I bet, he calls. River J. I check - I think he will be value betting most hands here. He bets 1k. i raise all in for 2.2k total. he thinks ages and folds. IDK wtf he had here because no way he folds a 10, but w/e. He said later he folded a strong hand, but wouldn't elaborate

The next interesting hand is quite a bit later. I've 3 bet a couple of times in this spot before, and he opens in MP. I have 4k and 3 bet with KK. He calls fast. 889 rainbow. This flop sucks balls because if I get raised I want to stab myself in the eye. I check because I can get more value on future streets, avoid getting bluffed off best hand, induce bluffs, etc etc. he checks it back. turn is a 10, with a bd fd which also sucks. I bet for value, and he thinks and calls. river 4 of bd flush. I bet 1k planning to cry/fold to a shove, and he dwells for ages and folds. He later said he hit the 4 on the river. WTF could he have that hit the 4? I asked and he said you dont want to know

One other hand where I made a bad/questionable call. Totally crazy american guy who looks like a drug dealer sits down and doubles up first hand raising from 70 to 500 with AK and hitting an ace to have 2k. He has played every pot, and shown good hands every time!. I raise A6s in CO and SB who is a massive foreign fish calls. American guy calls. Fish is short, with 300 behind. K63 with a flush draw I dont have. I decide to check behind and it comes 9o. Fish shoves, ameerican folds. i think he can have alot of gay hand so I call, and he has a 9 but i river an ace. ship!

    Finished up 3k.

Friday - didnt play, I played online and got rigged so I felt tilted. Instead I went out drinking with friends

    Saturday

Came in around 7 on saturday and sat in the 10/20 game again. Duthie was playing, as was D O dea and one other old scandinavian dude I had player with before who seemed solid. First hand I sit down, duthie loses a large one and is on tilt. He shoves 550 UTG blind and young english kid behind him insta calls. He has 1.4k total. Old scandi guy says is that blind and calls with 5k. Folds to me and I shove AQo. Kid calls, old dude folds. Board runs A10K56 and I scoop vs kids QQ and Duthies J5o. Ship ship, got lucky obv.

Young scandinavian kid sits down two to my left with 8k which I'm not too happy with. He opens and young english kid calls. english kid seems to suck. I call 88 in the BB playing 6k or so. Flop comes 810Q. I check and it checks thru. Turn is an Ace and I lead. Scandi folds, English kid sucks. River pairs the 10, and I value bet strong for around pot. He calls off and mucks.

I win a huge pot against scandi as follows : he opens in EP and i 3 bet the BB with QQ. He calls fast. KQ4 with a flush draw. Bet, think, call. Turn 5o. I bet, he calls. River is an off suit ace. I pick up chips and end up betting 2.1k, when I intended to bet 3.1k . Pretty gay. he thinks, says I think you have QQ but its a cooler and calls. he mucks, saying he had AK.

Donnacha has been playing pretty tight and calls the 40 straddle UTG. One more caller, I make it 250 on the Button with AQo. I get 2 callers and he makes it 1k. Folds to me, I ask how much he has [5k]. I fold. pretty gay spot, but he is so tight I have to give I tup. great spot for him to squeeze though

One hand that was hella gay is as follows. I raise AKo, and scandi calls. He has been playing quite loose and calling alot of raises. guy who had a big stack but has lost alot of it defends BB. k66 with a flush draw. Check, 350. Scandi min raises. WTF? We are like 8k deep or so. BB ships it for 1.4k. GAY. I have to fold, and then the ****ing scandi folds and shows a K. my view of him went down alot.

The final two hands I played of note are both against the old scandi guy who is quite solid. He is too loose preflop, but seems to play OK. I open MP and get 2 callers. I have KK. He 3 bets to 350 on the Button. 5k deep. I make it 1150. he folds AQo face up. Next orbit he opens MP and gets 2 callers. I make it 400 with AKh. he calls fast, two folds. Flop is K42 with 2 hearts. He check folds. GAY!

I finished up 7.5k on Saturday

In conclusion, I ran real well but I felt really comfortable and played very well. I enjoyed the games, and I'm looking forward to more live cash in the future

    .

yeah insert your blog link in your sig.

Well done, well played and good luck with live scene, in fairness you never really had any decent luck/runs in live tourneys to my knowledge thus far. Get cracking and you may well be making final tables for the GJP EDC(Euro Deepstacks Championships)

Gav I played a hand with Donnacha the other night similar to this.

The table is playing 6 handed as a few guys are gone for smokes or whatever. Im playing about 1,800 and Donnacha (unsurprisingly) covers. The table has bneen playing a bit passive preflop for the last few orbits and ive just told myself that i need to use my position better preflop to take down a few pots.

Anyway, Donnachea limps utg for 20, It comes to me and I make it 90 or 100 I cant remember which with Ad8h (what i have doesnt really matter here), the BB calls (this is the old Scandi guys valor refers to above). Then Donnacha makes it 375 to go. He has limp raised me to 375? wtf. Im getting ready to insta fold when i stop to think about it. Donnacha is a vastly experienced player, if he has a genuine hand at a 6 handed somewhat passive player then he will open raise rather than oipen limnp utg. I feel I have a super tight image with Donnacha from a session we played together earlier in the week. There is c. 500 in the middle for the taking I feel. I think about it for a few more moments and decide to make it 1,200 to play.

The BB folds and Donnacha folds while giving me a smile. Donnacha spoke to Halibut2 about the hand and told Hali that he had 10 10?

EDIT - il have a trip report in my blog later today, i had a prety good week myself.

no he just ran really well for about 40 years or so...

Also BCB is a huge fish, who hits gutshot straights against aces frequently so I wouldnt want to get it in ahead v him either.

yeah but you still have to run well. He plays many big games online too im reliable informed, as is a big winner.

I think he is too astute at the game to not be.

    All,

Yes I am a huge luckbox.

blog is as mentioned at http://gavinkelly.blogspot.com

I dont know if D O Dea is any good, I didnt play with him for too long, but he certainly seemed to not be retarded which coming from me is a glowing recommendation. he was playing really tight which is definitely optimal in these games. I'd imagine its more than likely that he is very good

I didnt realise that was you sitting in the game on Sat untill after you left, I was sitting on the left of the young Scandi kid.

For the first hour I was there I thought the Scandi kid was very good but he made some fairly poor plays after you left and gave up a few K before quitting and left me with the impression he was just running sick. The game got very lively after you quit when Marty Wilson and that Tommy lad from the country sat in quite shallow.

Donnacha is an excellent player and as far as I know he is a big winner online on laddies in the past, dont know if he plays online now or not.

Oh, I thought you knew it was me, I knew who you were. I had AK when I 3 bet you by the way, I forgot that one from my TR above

    how did you get on?

If Id known that was you at the start I would have introduced myself, wasnt being ignorant if I came accross that way.

I finished winning 3.5k but yoyoed for most of the session, paid off the scandi kid when he value bet the **** out of me on the river on a Q 7 4 2 2board when I had 3 bet him from the sb with A2 and he flat called with 27.

He also managed to not bust me on a 9 J Q flop when I had JJ and he had KT he played it so poorly.

Ran reasonably well when the game got shorthanded managed to flop quads against Marty when he was short to scoop a decent pot, apart from that no real interesting hands.

The hippy German was just about the tightest player Ive ever played with.

I had AQ in that hand against you I wasnt at the table long enough to really know where I was at all in the hand when you 3 bet.
