    Hi guys,

    Short story:
Can anyone post pics and instructions on how to fix a hi-cap magazine where
    the spring wont wind!

    Long story:
My CA AUG was working flawlessly up until today,
I was clay pigeon shooting and I brought the AUG along
to show to the guy teaching me.

he was very curious about it.
(The look of pure mischief of the bloke when he got his hands
on it was class and he was convinced it (in theory) would be an ideal tool to fire at the arses of the local rathkeale knackers. Of course nothing of the sort
was done as we were on a range and fired only into the field at safe targets.
Fired a few shots down range and then no bb's came out. They started
to block in the feed unit and the barrel.

Eventually I traced the issue down to the Hi-cap magazine (which I had problems with before) It was not feeding the BB's correctly.
After putting the bb's into the mag and starting to wind it started to click
like it does when fully wound....only thing was that it was NOT fully wound.
I opened the mag and it looked like the spring was fully wound even with no bb's in it. Whatever I did I started winding wheels and moving parts it seemed to relieve the tension on the spring but now it wont wind again.
the wheels move but the spring does not gain any tension.

Sick to death of hi-caps I HAVE to start getting some mid-caps less
    complicated, less noisey, less problems.

    ~B

i got the same problem from my dboys m4 last night....how did you fix yours?

the high cap has worked with out fail since i got the rifle until last night.

when you wind in all the BB's fill the side of the mag ready for use but nothing comes out. whne you take it off and pull back the little thigs that stops them all flying out only one or two BB's come out. wind it up againa and the same thing happens.

does anyone know whats wrong and how to fix it?

it could be one of 2 things really, the first being either an oddly shaped or broken BB in the mech and thats stopping the spring from winding up or it could be the little clutch that gives when the mag is full, its usually a little nut shaped piece in the mag, take it apart and have a look for anything in the mech so the clutch not set right., their usually a simple enough fix., :)

I know whats wrong. Its happened to me. The spring is a coil of strip metal that is wound taugt and released. I have 3 mags, one CA and two JG. One CA and one JG have had this problem. The problem lies with the part of the coil thats secured in the center. Its bent and the pressure snaps it. All you have to do is bend the end back into shape and reinsert it. All you'll need is two pliers.

Unscrew the base plate. Slide it off.
Slide out the internals and dismantle. The coil is in a black cylinder which you can spit down the middle. Watch out, the strip metal is sharp and may be under some tension. You should be able to see what needs doing. If not post a pic and I'll show you.

i thought the little thing on top that stops the BB's flying out was worn so i stripped it to change it for a spare one i had but the spare one was too big to go it to the mag.

when i put it back together though it seemed to work:confused:

il strip it down again and try what you said lethal.

    thanks lads

Nah, its not the release for you, theres nothing pushing the bbs up. Well, very little. If the coil goes it can still wind a tiny bit by catching in itself I think thus popping one or two bbs out the top.
