Clock Radio is only set to BBC Radio 4, 198 kHz LW

Car Radio, first set of 6...

    1. RTE Radio 1
    2. RTE 2FM
    3. Today FM
    4. Newstalk
    5. Q102 **
    6. Phantom *

    Second set of 6
    1. LMFM
    2. Dub City
    3. The freq for my ipod's FM transmitter
    4. RTE Lyric FM
    5. BBC Radio Ulster
    6. BBC Radio 2

I could go bonkers and list 12 MW/LW presets, but suffice to say, 909 and 693 for BBC Radio 5 Live; 198, 720 and 774 for Radio 4 LW (and MW), RTE Radio 1 on 567 and 252, and BBC Radio Ulster on 1341, BBC Radio Scotland on 810 and BBC Radio Wales on 884.

As for the Internet Radio, I have the following stations listed in "My Stuff"

    BBC Radio 1
    BBC Radio 2
    BBC Radio 3
    BBC Radio 4 FM
    BBC Radio 4 LW
    BBC Radio 4 LW Domestic
    BBC Five Live (International)
BBC Five Live Sports Extra (International)
    BBC Radio 6 Music
    BBC Radio 7
    BBC Radio Cymru
    BBC Radio Foyle
    BBC Radio London 94.9 FM
    BBC Radio Ulster
    BBC Radio Scotland
    BBC Radio Wales
    BBC Five Live Sports Extra
    BBC Three Counties Radio
    Classic FM
    CBC Radio One - Ottawa
    CBC Radio One - Vancouver
    ABC Radio National
    National Radio (Radio New Zealand)
    WSFM 101.7 FM (Sydney)
    Radio Aachen - die Hitgarantie
    BBC Five Live
    Phantom 105.2
    LMFM
    radio sport (New Zealand)
    Ireland Newstalk

    * Phantom is preset number 6, as its the closest button to me when driving ;)
** Via a quirk of my car radio, the RDS still displays LITE FM when I press that button, it then changes to Q102, but because it does that, I haven't changed it. The same occurs for Dublin City, as its RDS has recently changed from DCAL FM.

Go to https://www.reciva.com and register, then register your radio ID, then start adding stations, when you unplug and reboot the new stations will appear in a subgroup on the screen called My Stuff. Clever.

    Hi-fi's:

    1. BBC R1
    2. 2FM
    3. LMFM
    4. BBC R4
    5. TodayFM
    6. BBC R2
    7. Radio Ulster
    8. BBC R3
    9. RTE R1
    10. Lyric FM
    11. Newstalk
    12. RnaG

    Car:

    1. BBC R1
    2. 2FM
    3. LMFM
    4. TodayFM
    5. Newstalk
    6. Phantom

No order of preference in thos lists really....I'm just a wee bit obsessive about preset numbers matching station numbers/frequencies. Neither radio dials move far from BBC R1 unless the Last Word or the news at 1 comes on. The other music stations are merely there to fill in blanks in the preset list or for the very rare occasion when R1's output is bugging me...

    In the car:

    First 6:
    RTE Radio 1
    RTE 2FM
    BBC Radio 1
    Dundalk FM 100
    Five FM (Newry/Mourne)
    Today FM

    Second 6:
    Phantom FM
    Q102
    Raidio Na Life
    Near FM
    Today FM

    Stereo @ home:

    RTE Radio 1
    RTE 2FM
    Today FM
    BBC Radio 1
    LMFM
    Newstalk
    Dundalk FM 100

(I'm in Dundalk - and I do a show on Dundalk FM 100 - hence I listen occasionally to the shows of my colleagues. I can't pick up the Dublin stations at home. When in Dublin, I'd listen to Phantom or Q102.)

    On the car radio

    1 RTE1
    2 2FM
    3 Today FM
    4 Newtalk
    5 Lyric FM
6 106.7 so I can use my iTrip. Unfortunately I have to hit the retune button because the RDS on the radio keeps gravitating towards Newstalk

I can't remember the exact sequence of presets on the other FMs on the car radio cos I rarely use them but they include KCLR, Midlands 103, 98FM & FM104 (for driving in Dublin) and Beat 102. I've also got Radio 5 Live tuned in somewhere but the reception for that is so bad I rarely listen.

    1 BBC Fivelive

    Mike.

Hey, do you know if it is possible to listen to the premiership games on FiveLive online anywhere? - It says only available to those in the UK, is there a way around it cause the amount of static on AM 693 and 909 is hurting my ears at the moment...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

The only workaround (listening via the browser) is one based on luck, if your team is say Man City then go to BBC Machester local radio and you might be in luck as the local stations often cover home games live with thier own team. This has worked for me (Liverpool) a few times.

    Mike.

Cheers, just tried BBC Radio Berkshire (Reading - Arsenal match) but they wont let me listen due to contractual arrangements, reception has not improved, I'll have to suffer the slings and arrows i suppose.

Perhaps realplayer streams for fivelive are available through a UK based proxy server? Can't hurt to try...
