As Anti mentioned, the A+ is a great place to start. Contact your local FAS office as I think they do it.

A Ruu said, check your FAS office. Why not get paid to do the course! A+ is a good start but you certainly are making a committment by doing it. There is a good bit to it but you will come out of it knowing hardware quite well.

I've just started this course, how hard are the exams and is there any chance of me getting a job at the end of it or would i need to do the network course too ?

I wouldn't expect to get a job from it alone , even with the N+ Network exam, most employers in the IT sector looking for an MCSE or CCNA certification for their staff...needless to say those two are significantly harder than the A+ and N+ and more expensive.

I'm studying it at the moment to do the exams! I'm doing my 2nd MCP at the same time. There is lot to remember detail-wise but the exams should be fine. Check out the IT certification forum under Edu and the folks there will be better able to answer your q's.

I agree with majitripp, A+ alone will only get you so far but it's the first step.

Yep that's what i was thinking alright, mind u i did see a job advertised where they didn't mind if u had no experience, mind u they were only offering 20k !!! As for the cost well work is paying for it so that's no problem so far !
