Leaving Britain --- Tax Question

    Apologies if in the wrong forum, can't quite think where tax should go!

    I'm moving over to Ireland next week, I've paid about £700 PAYE on about £6500 earnings so far this year in the UK. Now I know if I didnt tell the Inland Revenue that I was leaving Britain and sent my end of year P45 to them in April I'll recieve most of that back.... My question is if I fill out a P85 and tell them I am leaving now will I get the same (or a large amount) back, or will they work it out pro-rata and say I have paid the correct amount of income tax as I should have?

    Does that make sense?

    I moved back to ireland from the uk 3 years ago and filled in that form you have filled in. You will get most of that back but from what I can remember I think I the tax back ater the end of the financial year in the Uk. so I dont think it makes much difference you will get the money back either way...

    Are you starting a new job in ireland when you return? if you are you will get tax back on your salary here as you are entitled to your full year tax allowances even if you only work a month of the fiscal year( in ireland that is january to December)
