So, for the most part, what is your favourite tipples?

For me, Miller for the beery part and Vodka with Pepsi (or begrudingly coke) for the spirits. Cant drink wine at all, so I stick to the more sophistimicated cans o lager and never really venture into the dark and scary world of liquers and creams and such. Dont really go in much for the colorful goo either, I'm convinced that Mickey Finns has made some of my eyebrow hair fall out.

Whats your choice for a general evenings imbibing?

Heineken or sambuca and to a lesser degree absinthe. :)

There is only one real answer to this - Guiness and Whiskey (not in the same glass).

Heineken & Miller are rubbish beers - go to a good off licence and try some german / polish / czech beers. Spaten is my favourite lager at the moment.

For wines, cheap claret is the way to go.

Peach schnapps and orange juice or sex on the beach...yumm! My friend drinks some cocktail with Southern Comfort as the main ingredient called Purple Skittles. Does anyone know the rest of the drinks in? I think Smirnoff Ice is one?

In ordinary pubs, it's Becks Vier, failing that Heino. That's on the Beer front.

Guinness aswell, depending on the mood.

Large Bottles of Guinness more often than not these days if I'm in the Guinness mood though, quality of pints is shíte generally, but not all pubs have the large bottles any more (no, I'm not from Waherfur :D).

Oh yeah, I sampled a bottle of Macardle's the other night. Not bad at all.

I've kinda gone off the Pint Bottles of Bulmers, but still have them sometimes.

Home drinking, I've been going for the Fuller's London Pride lately, scrumptious ale.

If I was going for lager for home drinking, it'd be Tyskie, which is usually available for €2 per 500ml bottle in most offies now. Nice beer.

But having said all of that, if I see something unusual in an offie, I'd usually get a bottle or two to sample.

    Spirits.

I never touch Vodka. Well hardly ever. There's a bottle of Zubrowka in my apartment, which is good with chilled apple juice.

    Bacardi and Coke.

Jim Beam and Coke, or with 2 cubes of ice.

    Jameson.

I do like Scoth Whisky too, but don't know enough about it to be fussy. Laphroaig is one I have had and liked recently though.

If there's a round of shoots being done, I'd go for Sambucca. Prefer Black Sambucca, but it's pretty scarce in Ireland tbh.

Stella in cold bottles or heino on draft. Jemmy and coke ftw though, hate cider.

Vodka (huzzar) with half a pack of skittles thrown in - I kid you not.
That or a good auld fashioned pint of the black stuff.

Here, Ricard, in Ireland Guinness, have been known to partake of the odd Bacardi & Coke.

Guinness - If I am in a stout mood.

    Budvar/Chimay/Duvel/Heineken - If I am in a beer/lager mood.

Jameson Crested Ten/Bombay Sapphire and Tonic - If I need a short.

In the pub - Heineken, Absolut, Wild Turkey, Guinness in certain pubs only

At home - Staropramen, Budvar, Spaten, etc., basically whatever decent beers the local offie has in stock. Don't drink spirits much at home, but if doing so it'll usually be good quality bourbon, Bookers, Old Charter, etc.

    Speaking of poison.

Claims of poisoned wine in Georgia
    Monday, 5 November 2007 16:17

Georgia's opposition has accused a police colonel of poisoning anti-government demonstrators with adulterated wine.

However officials say the protestors were simply drunk.

Thousands of Georgians have been protesting against President Mikhail Saakashvili, accusing him of corruption and authoritarianism.

Georgy Bukia, a member of Democratic Front, an opposition parliamentary faction, said the demonstrators lost consciousness after drinking wine distributed by a Georgian police colonel.

Keti Kochorashvili, spokeswoman for the Health Ministry, said 24 people had been taken to five hospitals and four people had been already released.

She said that it was not a poisoning, the people were drunk.

Mr Bukia said he believed the poisoning was sanctioned by the authorities and he has asked for a test on the wine.

President Saakashvili is facing his biggest crisis since winning power in a popular revolution four years ago.

In a recorded television broadcast on Sunday he refused to talk to the opposition or accept their demands to bring forward a parliamentary election to early next year.

Another mass protest was scheduled for this afternoon in Tbilisi. Popular discontent has grown because the reforms have done little to improve living standards for many people and corruption remains a problem.

I'm always being told that vodka and coke is a girly girl drink.

(Tia Maria and milk is lovely, had a couple of them a few years ago when my g/f ordered them, brought them to the hotel room and then fell asleep. I've never had one since)

Ah it kind of is, especially when you see a load of girls cryin' after a night out - you know they've been on the gin...unless there is blood and then it's just a fight

Hmmm, in the pub, pint bottles of Bulmers in Summer, and pints of Guinness in winter.

However, I do most of my drinking at home / other people's houses, so my real choices are :

red wine and more red wine, preferably quality gear !
on the beer front, depending on the mood, it's bottled weissbier (Franzikaner preferably though Erdinger/Valentins/Schofferhofer all perfectly acceptable !), ice-cold Heineken (bottled only !), or a nice Chimay or Orval, or better still, a Westmalle Trippel !

Have been known to drink vodka/coke, any and all sorts of cocktail combos, my liver ain't proud !

    Miller or Bud if beer
    Vodka with Coke/Red/White/Lemon/Red Bull
Jager & RedBull - as a drink or as Jagerbomb

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 161 ✭✭brow_601

guinness in the pub/tuborg at home
any kind of dark rum, with either coke or citrus lucozade

I think I am getting more fussy in my old age as my tastes are changing alot in the last year or so.

Guinness in pub (only if its good)
Holsten Pils or Satzenbrau(if I have to choose a bottled beer and pub has not got great choice)

I love most Indian Pale Ales Little creatures or Bitter ansd Twisted being my fav. at the moment.

Also liking the Carptian beer and Tyskie my local is doing for €2.

Mcardles I drink too when I am not in the mood for Guinness. Also Bass from time to time and also depening on which pub.

So in general I am a fussy drinker !!!:o

In the pub, Bulmers and JD & Coke or straight Jameson

At home, Jameson 18yo,decent red wine. Thankfully I go through duty free quite often to pick up bottles of the stuff.

I have a decent whiskey collection with a lot of the older whiskeys in it. Looking forward to seeing the new Jameson in december when I can get it :D
