I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread, as my question is more about Ebay than phones but...

I am looking to get a knew phone, and the SE W960i and the LG Viewty have caught my eye. However I cant find these for sale anywhere in Ireland. Thing is Ebay have them, but I've never bought anything from ebay, so my question is this: how is reliable is Ebay? When i see the phone I want, for cheaper than it is in England, it looks too good to be true, has snyone every used Ebay to get a phone (or anything really) before and had problems?

Also is a foreign (eg from the uk) phone able to work in Ireland as long as its unlocked, or is there something else that need to be done to it?

how is reliable is Ebay? check the seller's feedback. Be careful of any seller who hasn't any recent feedback or has accumulated feedback from buying low value items. Check for Paypal Buyer Protection. For reputable sellers it's €1,000

I've had loads of problems when I started out, but using the above criteria my experience has improved. If you are unsure use your credit card to pay and if the seller doesn't perform, use the chargeback facility for any sum in exces of buyer protection.

Use the completed items search to see what previous items have sold for. If a seller is offering BUY IT Now at a much lower price - bad sign

Ask the seller questions. If there's no response prior to purchase, then you'll definitely not get any remedy for any issues that arise after purchase.

Check grammer and spelling on listing?

Is the item for sale pictured or is it a stock picture?

Check the manufacturer website for images of what you're looking for and then compare with the listing

Post up a link you're interested in and invite comments from here.

eg if you were searching for new, unlocked N95's on ebay Ireland, it would be here

Which one would you go for?

The LG seems good at that price, It's an excellent phone, no sure what network your buying to use it on, but from using one for the last 8mts it's really suited to 3 here....they've just started doing it on bill pay from €29....which is a very good offer.....bundle that with there relax plan and you've an awsome phone with loads of apps already set up and working.....it's your best bet if you want to get the most out of the viewty...

OP that Sony from China might not be a wise idea...suggest finding a uk or irish seller...
