I was replying to Sparkys post about her ex-racer when I realised I hadn't heard much about classes for them (showing mostly) or - for that matter - veteran classes..

Fits has said she also thinks there aren't many classes for these groups.. perhaps I'll have to start a society.. *sigh* ..

G is technically a Large Hack for showing purposes.. but he has done lots of Ex racer classes... even a HOYS class and SFAS qualifiers (HOYS Search For A Star).. there's mostly always ex-racer classes at large or county level shows (not so many at local shows)

Veteran classes are even more popular (although the attached society is not so popular - money grabbing *****s ) .. with their own National 2 Day Championships etc etc..

The only place I've seen that has classes for either is at the AIRC Festival at Stradbally

Or am I just looking in the wrong places ?? Anyone shed any light ? ..

No I think Fitz is right.... I have never heard of veteran classes, ex-racer classes mainstream. It would even have to be a pretty big show to have a 'hack' class, nevermind one with different divisions :(
Thoroughbred riding classes are the most common I suppose (for your purpose) but you would be in with all the young'uns.

RC would be your best bet.

The only show we have comparable to HOYS would be the RDS, and most of the classes - like hack/riding horse don't have qualifiers, its paid entry.

That is a bugger really.. will just have to start a Veteran Movement!! Found a couple of hack classes which I might venture out to in the summer if we have no scars from this winters injuries  ..

Our new website will be sponsoring classes for publicity reasons etc at some shows this summer so I will be trying to get them to hold some veteran/TB classes.. :sneaky: :) ..

are there actually specific classes for TBs? If so, I've never seen them advertised.

I only have TBs at home, so if I do show them I just enter in WHs and Lightweight hunter classes. They've always done really well - never been out of the first 5 - considering I only show them for experience and fun!

However, if there were specific classes, I would be interested....
