    I'd say they'll be a selection of the usual shots taken by little timmy of his pet down Rufus.. Not really a photography competition but a PR exercise by Halifax..

    Got an email today from them saying I'm in the final twelve....

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    Oh my god - I've just read the letter so my hands are still shaking from the excitement...great for a complete amateur like myself to win something like this.

    And no it wasn't a sick puppy with a broken leg :D

    I think this calls for one more WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    I hope I haven't been duped :D they just told me to tune into the show tonight (so maybe I'm not the ultimate winner).

    The picture was of a girl drinking from a mug sitting in a pile of leaves that she raked up - relaxing in the autumn breeze I suppose.

    Hmm...thought they wanted the recycling one... now I'm not sure which one they chose.

    Thanks for the congrats everyone. Did anyone else hear anything from them?

    Now I can start looking at lenses (yay - having the means to support my lens lust :D:D:D )

    Excellent Thirdfox, well done.

    I got a call yesterday from them saying I made the (a) shortlist, and they wanted to make sure I had a high-rez version of the photo I submitted.

    Although that did get my hopes up, no word from them today. =(

    Good luck. 10G can buy a good amount of photo gear!

    But lol - I think I fit into the little Timmy role (sure was it a crime for me to pretend I was only 7? :p )

    You're right though - these kind of competitions often do not seem to judge the winners on what photographers like but the general public. (Some of my pictures get criticised by people who say it's too dark or that you can only see one half of her face - photography means different things to different people I suppose). Cooing babies will always be a "good" picture no matter if the highlights are blown or not (moreso if it's your cooing baby's picture ;))

    Let's face it, our photographic/creative genius is never going to be fully appreciated right? :D;)

    Lol - she's my sister and I promised her 10% of what I get - she's ecstatic of course...thinking of all the sweets she could buy.

    But technically I probably should get her to sign a model release form (she'd be even more ecstatic - "I'm a professional model?" *high-pitched squeal* :eek: )

    I prefer the laughing cow myself :p

    To be fair though my other photo was all about recycling and how that gives the planet a little extra as well as my wallet...wasn't cheesy enough though it would seem.
