ziggy is missing

My ginger cat Ziggy went missing on Oct 24th. He is a one year old male and neutered - so shouldn't roam. We think he was out hunting rabbits and when the fog came last week he got lost. We've searched high and low - we live on the Carrick Road and he is nowhere to be found. I think he might have worked his many charms on a nice warm family somewhere close by and is hopefully getting looked after. But - we very much want him back. He is the baby and that's that. If anyone sees a medium-sized ginger, friendly (not to be confused with the big Tom that hangs round the back of Willow Grove) then please email: jaki_mac@hotmail.com. There is a reward.

I think Jaki lives in Dundalk (in case anybody was wondering)

Jaki, I actually lost a dog in the exact same spot (around the "Rocks" has we called it as children) about 20 years.

    Try http://www.ispca.ie/content/lost.html

I hope they turn up soon.

oh that's too bad about your dog. This is what I'm afraid of. Something just dragging around in my head for ever. The pain of the loss is unreal - and the missing status right now is worse than 'dead' in a way. At least that way you have closure as the Americans say.

He is gone 12 days now. And as a neutered cat that just doesn't sound good...we've done everything you can think of and am registered with both sites you mentioned. I even got a little announcement made on RTE Radio 1, as well as numerous mentions on Dundalk FM. There is no trace of a body on the roads or in the fields and I don't sense him dead- if you see what I mean. I've walked the fields and road up here for days.

We have had sightings on the Ardee road and are looking into this - but honestly, 12 days for a neutered cat - it's getting ridiculous!!!

I now think he was stolen. There was a little girl who used to feed our neighbours cats and she loved to play with Ziggy - when the neighbour moved (her auntie) that's when Ziggy disappeared. Makes sense, eh? Except I don't know who the hell the girl was or how you accuse of someone of that. All I know is her first name.

Will try to get to the bottom of it. And will probably have to stalk their house! Can you imagine?

Thanks for the tips. This is a rocky place up here. Ziggy would hunt rabbits in the field every day and then come home each night.

    Sorry about your poor dog.

God, I really hope they didn't steal your cat. What an awful thing to do to someone. Don't give up, I hope you find him soon.

Don't give up! I currently own 12 cats, all the females are spayed. One male cat is named toys and he is not neutered, he went missing for 4 weeks and came back. :D

Thanks for all the replies and for being so concerned.

I latch on to different theories on a daily basis. Today it looks like theft. Everyone is telling me that no way would a neutered cat go off for 12 days. Ziggy is young - only a year and is usually in bed every night. He was missing before Halloween - maybe 6 days before - though there were still fireworks. I've ruled out death so far - as I've searched every square inch of the fields and the neighbourhood and no body. So if he's not roaming, not dead - that leaves theft! And I have a 5 yr old candidate - when the neighbour left and her cats didn't need feeding suddenly that's when Ziggy went too...

just I haven't a clue how to get in touch with these people. Anyone know how to trace people when all you have is a child's name?

I won't accuse, just politely ask 'did you borrow my Ziggy'

Will do more ads and posters. I have a strong feeling we will get him back.

My neutered tom went missing for three weeks when he was under a year old (or maybe just over, I can't remember). He used to follow my mam when she went walking round to the Dart station, and obviously just got lost one day. No sign of him at all for over 2 weeks.

Eventually we got a couple of good photos of him and made MISSING posters - paid the cost of colour-copying because he's a very distinctive cat. 2 days after we put the posters up, he was on our doorstep. We had figured that possibly someone had taken him in, and just didn't know where he belonged. He doesn't wear a collar. So once they knew where he was from, returned him. Or else he just didn't know his address and when he saw it on the poster knew how to get home ;)
