Theres an announcement on the Electric Picnic website that early bird tickets are going on sale next Friday. Festival is back on the 29th, 30th & 31st August.

Early bird price is same as last year at €199 so that should please people whod predicted that theyd just increase it every year to milk us.

I only got the early bird last year at the very last second as I wasnt so impressed with 2006 but as 2007 was, in my opinion, fantastic looks like I'll be up early Friday for these. Also considering there is no sign of the "other" festival I predict these tickets may be in even more demand this year.

Between now and about a week before the announcement of the lineup you can pick up the tickets at this reduced rate. After the lineup is announced it will be 220 per ticket.

Wouldnt be bothered unless someone I like is performing

sure most people know it'll be good even if the lineup isnt earth-shattering like this year (in my opinion - dont want to get anoter debate going!)
reckon its good value. Mind you, they could always announce in May that its a one-day event in Marley Park. But I'm sure you could always shift yer ticket to a couple o townies

Are you trying to imply there will be no "other" festival in 08? Hah!!

Its looking that way. Im sorry I mentioned it though. Please leave any further discussion about that out of this thread as it'll only get locked.

When!!??!?!?!?!??!?!???????????????? That needs its own thread, I knew that they might be doing Coachella but ATP is very, very doable.

I missed EP last year, felt kind of lonely then. Must get a ticket this year.

so if i get these and don't like the lineup i'll be able to send em on right? as in EP generally sells out and tix go for above the odds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

Its sold out the last couple of years though tickets were held back last year to deliberately foil touting scum so if you are planning on making a profit..dont. However if you get an early bird ticket it will cost you 200 euro but the normal tickets will cost 220 so you'll be able to sell an early bird ticket and get your money back, even if they others dont sell out, relatively easy as yours will be 20 quid cheaper.

    well, got me tickets.
Never been to EP. Am sick of that other 'festival', if you could call it such.
Am hoping for a few bands I like... but more so for the experience, fun and more mature crowd that enjoy the craic.

same as myself, i've never been but every year am hearing great things about it.
    i'm sick of oxe.gen and it's knackers!

I think I'll give EP a miss this year. Capacity will now be 40,000 (compared to 25,000 in 2005). I think it's become a victim of it's own success.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,003 ✭✭✭catch--22

I was quite sure I heard on the news that it was the same capacity as the last couple of years!

There was an interview in The Star with John Renoylds the week after EP 2007. He said the capacity would increase to 40,000 and there'd be more arts stuff next year.

ultimately, more people = more money = better bargining power to get bigger and better acts.

    It's a tough trade-off.

Yawn. Sick of this response by people. All this 2005 was amazing bull****. Although 2005 was the best year I still had an amazing time in 2006 and 2007 even with the increased capacity. Its up to you to enjoy yourself. There is so much to do at Electric Picnic that if ya cant find something to enjoy its you that has the problem.

2005 *was* amazing. 2007 was very weak in comparison. The music was probably on a par with 2005, but the site was too big, the tents weren't big enough and the whole thing jusy felt a bit overwhelming. Trying to find my friends when I lost them was a nightmare.

Went to my first electric picnic last year and it was hands down the greatest festival I've ever been to. I didn't get to see half the bands I wanted to but I just had such an amazing time wandering around the place with my mates. Will definitely be getting a ticket this year.

    Slight bump;

Ticketmaster are charging 12% on credit card bookings.

    Trax are charging 5%.

Seems best to pay cash for the damn tickets :(

Has the 'early bird' thing stopped now that I'm looking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

Early bird tickets sold out last week.

Ive heard a few people have had this happen. They are gone again if you check now. I guess they are preempting touts who are going to try and sell to people who want the tickets for christmas presents or something.
