Does anyone know if ABC1, UK Bright Ideas and/or Jetix will be replaced by any new channels soon (or sometime in the near future)?

Technically, we're still paying for them.

    Cheers,

    F

I asked them that a few weeks ago and they told me that yes they will be launching new channels some time soon but here's the gas part they don't know what channels they will be or the names of these new channels and they don't know for sure when they will be launching them on their service, what a great company

More a case of what poorly trained staff. The CS staff were probably told that there are new channels and not told what. I feel sorry for them as while they are useless, it is more management's fault than the staff's.

That's true alright it's their managers fault for not fully informing them of what's going to be happening, the stick they must get on things like that.

FTN was replaced by Virgin1 as Virgin owned the FTN channel to begin with. Besides, Virgin1 is now broadcasting on the old FTN frequency wheras UK Bright Ideas, Jetix and ABC1 are just blank screens.

Shame on you NTL (UPS or whatever name they trade under)!

How are you still technically paying for those channels? I am sure UPC have reserved the right to add and remove channels in the Terms & Conditions.

Very simple. You pay whatever per month for a certain amount of channels. NTL removes 3, which leaves the payment rate to number of channels higher than before. That is how I'm technicaly paying for those channels as the price haven't gone down

Anyway, I do appreciate that they (NTL) don't have any power over what channels are pulled off the sat's but they would have known long enough in advance to get new replacement channels which we the consumers still pay for which leaves more money in the pockets at NTL...

I am sorry to say this but you are talking through your arse. May I suggest you read your T&C's before making stupid comments.

To Mossy Monk: Very good comment and excellent choice of wording(!) Funny how you choose to hang on to the only line that doesn't contain a question mark in my initial post. Do you work for NTL as your comments on the T&C's seems to be your main focus?

Please let me know what YOU have to say about any replacement channels and try (if it is not too difficult) to steer clear of the T&C's or my comments on the pricing as it seems like your blood pressure can't take it for much longer...

You are paying for a service where UPC decides what is in each package. Since there is no A La Carte, (i.e. you don't get to pick the channels you want), you can argue that in one sense it is likely almost everyone is paying for channels they wouldn't order or don't want.

Be good folks and no personal comments please.

UPC can 1/2 the number of channels total and charge more. It's doubtfull if more than 40 channels are really needed.

If cheap rubbish channels actually fold up why should UPC do anything? This is not the old days of four UK channels justifying the existance of cable. Then if one channel was lost it would be a big issue.

ABC1 for instance closed because there are only so many times you can watch re-runs of Home Improvement.

Until the Regulators insist that service providers can only sell subscriptions to channels and not "Packages" we will have many rubbish channels and you can't complain about what is in the Package.

Same for Sky as well as UPC. Do read the T&C

Interesting point you make, and again you are talking out your hole. I don't understand why you want to avoid the T&C's. Would that be because it would suit your pointless stupid rant to avoid them? You agreed to them not me.
