At the moment we are in plans to do an event for students in 2008 . I know Steven in Poker Ireland has the Student Champs and it looks superb and will be as big this year ...I need your opinions on this student only event players.

Please give us feedback needed to see if u think this is a runner .

Please note that this event will need the support of each Poker Society but if put together could be a superb event for €50

Here is our plan for 2008.

    Event plan

30 Large Colleges in tour from the Feb-April

    Buy in €50 Reg inc

Dealers for last 3 tables only per event

TD/ Tables and Chips supplied all venues

Each College Prizepool Pooled to create Grand Final Prizepool of estimated €40,000.

Top 10 players from each College event Qualify to represent the Society at the Grand Final 2008 .

    Grand Final event - €40,000

    250-300 players

    PM Me if needed

Is today announce a student tournament day or something?

Just need some clarification. Is each college holding 1 tournament like a satelite and top 10 go through or do they hold a number of tournaments and run it like a league with top 10 going through?

Sounds good... If the tour of colleges is on Feb - April when do you plan on having the main event? Just watch out for exam time around May....

Will this be a team event or individual?

A lot of students might not pay 50, but could always have a sat a few weeks before it for a fiver or tenner!

Will there be dealers at every table for the main event?

Also, if one college gets 20 runners and top 10 get seats, then another college gets 50 runners and top 10 get seats, will there also be cash payouts for the final table at the tour events?

Each College gets one shot to qualify players and the total prizepool of each college is pooled .

My idea is no cash at the events all pooled . we cannot judge wat numbers will be better where . But all money collected is pooled

We'll support this as much as we can Neil. As already said, some students might not be willing or able to pay €50 (some can't even make the local €25 F/O) but I'm sure we could run satellites prior to it.

One issue that we're experiencing with our Societies office is that they aren't really happy with a) large sums of money (anything over €10) at our events and b) online gambling. I'm sure some other colleges would be of the same mindframe so that's something to bear in mind when trying to organise an event of this scale.

In our event, I'm sure I can add some extra value by throwing in chipsets, cards and tshirts into the pool but do think that the larger colleges could do with either having a) more tickets or b) a prizepool.

Im not having a go or complaining, but I think itd be a bit unfair to have an overlay in one college and then more than cover ten seats in another college if you know what I mean?

Maybe the tour events should have a min number of players to go ahead?

I know what u are saying but the over lay on the tour events all culminates in one grand final . These are only Qualifiers . The only other way is to have sit and gos and 2 qualifies from each one and try get out as many meaning each ticket for the final is worth 250 . Its really the same thing if i break it that way .

Again this is an idea i have not set in stone yet as it needs to be tweaked
